I had a taste for egg foo young and remembered seeing it on the menu here. Met a friend on a Friday evening for dinner it wasn’t crowded at all. We were seated right away. For me egg foo young is all about the gravy. I ordered shrimp egg foo young. The portion size was big, lots of onions and bean sprouts which I like, the shrimp were a decent size. I ordered extra gravy because I love it. The waitress was not too attentive we had to ask for water, side plates and soy sauce.

The customer service is super horrible. I want there today and was treated like I owned them rent money. They come to our communities and treat us like we don’t exist. The restaurant wasn’t even crowded an hour ago. In fact I was the only person in there. I’m a member of the press and I will get the word out about this place. The food is average as well. I’ve had better. Be careful who you treat badly, big may come back to bite 10 fold.

We loved everything we ordered last night. We have been enjoying this restaurant ever since they opened it. We ordered a shrimp sushi roll from their Valentine’s Day special menu. The other 4 items were: Orange chicken, Shanghai chicken, Sweet and sour chicken, and beef drunken noodles. Omg! all of them were super tasty!!!! Drunken noodles with beef was my personal favorite, and my husband loved the orange chicken. They provide fast service, nice ambiance, and kind staff.

My friend and I went here for Sunday lunch and it ended being Sunday snack/appetizer. my friend got the Maryland King Roll for $16.95 and she only got six pieces. I got the Baltimore roll $9.95 and fried calamari $7.95, and both portions were small!!! Maryland king crab roll (right) Baltimore roll (right)

I just tried this restaurant for the first time and learned they have been around for a long time. It's easy to see why! Wonderful menu with lots of sushi and tons of non-sushi Asian dishes, too. Fantastic service and the staff is very knowledgeable about menu questions. Nice, modern atmosphere and wasn't too crowded during a 2.5 hour Sunday lunch. It's not the cheapest place in town & not the most expensive, but the food is amazing and completely worth it! The presentation is 5-star and everything was absolutely delicious. Good for a date night, too. Just enough ambiance for that. Highly recommend!!

Very disappointed in the service and the food. Me and wifey went there to celebrate our 46 wedding anniversary and left there feeling unsatisfied and sorry we went there. The waitress was very cold, she rushed us and when I had a few questions about some dishes she got impatient and rushed away from our table then came back at least 15 minutes later. She was the most unfriendly waitress I have ever had, anywhere. The food was ok at best but the fried calamari was totally horrible. It looked more like onion rings, and was very rubbery. It was so bad we only had one bite then left the rest. I have been going to Zen since they opened. I even know the owner, David. It used to be owned by two brothers but I think they had a falling out a few years back. The one brother, Phil, opened a restaurant in Laurel across from Mission Barbecue several years ago. Anyway, I think it may be a very long time before I think about ordering from Zen again in the future.

Ordered 3 rolls and dumplings to go. The sushi rolls were very skimpy. The California roll was ok but they had no cucumber? The shrimp tempura roll was two very small pieces of tempura just wrapped in rice, no flavor. The salmon roll was literally a sliver of salmon wrapped with rice? The dumplings resembled a sausage wrapped in a dumpling? Overall very unimpressed and will not return.

Google said this place was good for sushi and boy did they lie. The portions are so small and the price ain’t priceying aka matching the small plate. Our server ;( no comment but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Good thing about the dmv area is there are plenty of places to get quality sushi rolls.
