User Reviews

While the atmosphere was beautiful. Great music, excellent meal. The service could have been better. Our waitress tried 2 take 30% off the top of our bill. While giving us less in change. My dinner date recognized the issue and addressed it with our waitress, without getting the owner involved. He had owned a few restaurants before himself. And knew it didn't seem right. Unfortunately my blind date did not work out. However that would not stop me from coming back to a wonderful establishment.

Is this place open for business? Everytime I go to the Kettle next door there are construction workers doing something inside. REPLY TO OWNER: I gave three stars because that represents a neither good or bad review. You can't expect 5 stars for being closed?

I had a rather unfortunate experience...and i really wanted to like this place more than I ended up doing, b/c it's nice to have a hip little restaurant BYOB in H-town. Came here with one other person on a weeknight. Waitress was really cool and friendly. We ordered 4 dishes altogether to share -- 2 of them came out in a reasonable time...but when we finished those, we ended up waiting a good 20 - 25 minutes for the rest of our meal. We were provided no reason or explanation...only a quick "sorry" -- and we were the only people in the restaurant. I just feel like with such a small restaurant when you just have one table you could at least come out and apologize and explain the reason for the wait and offer some sort of compensation or solace...but that's me. Food was good for the most part. Caesar Salad had a strange taste to it. And they were out of Coke, which i found a little bizarre. I'd probably give it another go hoping that it was a one time snafu, but reading a few similar reviews not sure it was.

We called ahead for a reservation and we were told the place was packed and the wait was an hour and a half. We took the reservation and discovered it was well worth it! The menu was diverse and with a party of 4 we sampled quite a bit of it. The fillet came out perfect, as well as the shrimp and the various tacos all amazing.

Wow! Right from the flavorful braised short rib nacho appetizer to the perfect shrimp tacos this food was outstanding as well as the service! Dessert was a shareable size and one of the more unique yet delicious desserts I've had. Love this place and will definitely return soon!

The food is actually unusual and very good, although in my opinion somewhat expensive. It's a relatively small space, and when we last visited it was extremely loud and disappointing (a party was going on and taking up half of the restaurant). My party of 6 could not hear each other over the volume on that day, this is the reason I chose to give Vida a 3 star rating. I have been here twice before this last visit, and did not have this issue. I would recommend that after making reservations call before your arrival to confirm that there will be no large groups during your visit. Definitely a place to go, but not during a time when there are large parties going on.

My girlfriend and I found this place a little less than a year ago and instantly loved it. They recently changed up the menu and food quality (and brand?) and now its not that great. Our favorite was the Vida Nachos, as we enjoy finding good nacho spots, but these have easily dropped off our favorites list. We most likely won't be coming back.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Vida and it was great. Myself being a Brookline native, we have eaten at Vida many times before; the food was always delicious and the staff friendly. The owner, Bill, brought us in a few weeks prior for a food tasting and worked with us to put together the menu and room layout etc. It was decorated for Christmas so it really looked cool. Thank you Bill and Staff, See you soon!
