So sad to say that the place stinks, literally there is a sewer problem in the building and it stinks the sewer. We went last year and they had the same problem, in fact they had the doors open with incense burning. When we asked they told us it was temporary. Tonight we returned and almost had to leave the smell was so bad. When I asked I was told that from time to time they have the problem. Suggestion, get a plumber, you have a major sewer line break under the slab..Not going back ever.

It's a little ways away from the Quarter, but this Old Metairie gem is well worth the drive. Lots of folks claim to do Tapas, but Chef Glen cooks up something for everyone with a true focus on Spanish cuisine. The new Ochsner Eat Fit NOLA menu is guilt-free gourmet. Leave room for the desserts.

I am not certain how anyone can complain about anything at this Metairie restaurant..the food is excellent as of October 2013 ,the service nice - and though a bit undereducated, with some in house training and experience all the servers should do just fine so long as the customer remains the priority...As far as hours, Vega was far more willing to stay open until the advertised closing for a party of two, and on another occasion a party of four while Cafe B ,when called ahead (8:45 pm) to alert them we were on our way) told us "we have decided to close early"..if you can imagine any restaurant turning down a potential over #200.00 check, before taxes and tip..Guess which establishment gets our business? we had heard horrid things about Vega Tapas in the past but found that currently , everything was spot on , save for the bartender on the night we most recently dined there..One of their signature cocktails (" the pristini") was far too vodka heavy based on the menu description..I don't know about you but having been a bartender and restaurateur , if I see a guest's cocktail sitting there untouched, I ask about the problem, then take care of it ( on the house), Though the new bartender did ask, and try to correct it, it was still undrinkable- I would have taken it off the check at best,( if still untouched ) and discounted it at least ( if it had been half drunk for instance). So the bar situation needs some work, but the overall experience rivals any Orleans Parish upscale restaurant- if not exceeds many. If you want great Iberian, Spanish, N.African inspired cuisines and appropriate Tapas items in generous portions with options for upsizing the portions on many items ( and bar offerings too),and to a place you can bring smokers as some appreciate cigarettes or cigars with fine amontillados, sherries and cognacs- like me!!!( but to sit outdoors do apply some mosquito deterrent before arriving ,or just bring a few sticks of good incense as that will keep most flying insects away for about 30 minutes per stick!), and pay a more than reasonable amount for high quality foodstuffs, and desserts, with a decent wine and fortified wines menu, Vega Tapas Cafe is the right place..

The food was unique, fresh, and delicious! The atmosphere and service were wonderful as well. I would definitely recommend this place to friends!

an eclecticly decorated yet comfortable space with a well-chosen and interesting wine list. although it may not be a true tapas restaurant, it is a true small-plates restaurants with a wide selection of options from around the medeterranian region.

I love this place! The food and wine are amazing! Sit at the bar, the bartenders are always very friendly.
