I try and visit this restaurant whenever I am in Iowa City. Everyone I have suggested try them have always had great experiences. They have a nice little patio when the weather is good. The waitstaff has always been very nice and helpful with their recommendations. I’ve never had a bad meal or experience here.
I got to enjoy the best seitan I've ever had here!! They were wings- amazing!! The falafel was also to die for. The service was wonderful, and all the love they put into their meals is obvious.
Lovely fresh home made style vegan food. The seitan wings and falafel wrap were a real highlight
I tried the Gyro. It was Ok. The seitan was over cooked to my liking. I spoke of my soy allergies and they accommodated me well. I was advised soy is in the tzatziki sauce so they put it on the side for me. I tasted it and it was ok. I asked for mango habanero sauce on side. It was $3 for 1.5oz amount. Made in house and it was good. Fries had some seasonings on it that did not resonate with my body well. They were greasy and salty.
Awesome awesome place. Worked in the area for a week and ate all my meals here. The staff was super friendly.
Everything was absolutely wonderful, and the presentation was amazing. Little touches like mason jars and cloth napkins make the difference. I appreciate the eco touches like the metal straw and drink stirrer. The seasonal produce added a freshness and color that elevated this meal. Everything tasted fresh and had great great texture. Our server was also wonderful, and the atmosphere was fun.
Trumpet Blossom is the coolest restaurant in town! Amazing vegan food, I love all the specials they come up with. I think what they're doing is so important. They also have for real gender neutral bathrooms that have menstrual health products in both and garbage cans in the stalls. All around a lovely, comfy experience.
It's great to have vegan options, but I didn't feel like some of the menu items were named correctly. Maybe my expectation of meat substitutes differs, considering the taste and textures weren't very accurate. I definitely feel their property tax was reflected in the menu prices and portions. When non vegans think of a vegan restaurant, this is a prime example. Ultimately, I was disappointed because nothing made me say wow! I'll definitely be back for that entree. Instead, this is type of place that just makes me want to cook at home next time instead. A little too blah for me. I am glad so many people hyped you all up though. That's great they're out there trying something different.
