If you're looking for a restaurant that serves up some seriously delicious food, then Timber & Salt is definitely worth a visit. The menu features a wide range of dishes, from perfectly cooked salmon to dry-aged New York steak that's simply fantastic. One standout dish is the salmon, which is cooked to perfection with a crunchy skin that adds an extra layer of texture and flavor to each bite. The dish is served with a variety of sides, including homemade fries that are cooked to perfection. The dry-aged New York steak is also a must-try, with a deep, rich flavor that's perfectly complemented by the blue cheese butter. And let's not forget about the fries, which are some of the best I've had in a long time. They're perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making for the ultimate comfort food. If you're looking for a great appetizer to start your meal, the deviled eggs are a must-try. They're simply phenomenal, with a creamy texture and just the right amount of seasoning. The pickled habaneros can be a bit spicy for some, but the dish is still amazing even without them. Overall, I highly recommend Timber & Salt for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. The food is fantastic, the service is great, and the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. So if you're in the area, be sure to give it a try!

Stopped by Friday night after Music in the Square. Oscar, Red and Kennedy made our experience very special with their friendly service. A must try is the Shrimp and Grits, plus the Roasted Oysters!

Timber and Salt is a small restaurant in the main pedestrian thoroughfare of Redwood City. It’s a little bit more upscale than its fast casual neighbors (though no need to dress up). There’s not too much space inside and the decor is timber themed. The bar is very pretty though quite crowded. I have been there a few times now and it is usually pretty good. The smash burger is excellent - sweet, spicy, creamy and salty with a great blend of textures. It’s the only burger I’ve ever had that makes good use of bread and butter pickles. The candied bacon adds a rich decadence. Of other things I’ve tried, the gnocchi is unremarkable, and the apple cobbler dessert is very comforting. The olives are too salty for my liking. I most often sit at the bar, and the bartenders seem quite experienced. They chisel their own ice, and the cocktail menu is extensive and adventurous. The bartenders are very busy and are not conversationalists - some are somewhat friendly and some are more transactional, but none of them tell stories about the food or drinks, or seem that interested in getting to know people even if they are regulars in the neighborhood. It seems like they are trying to rebrand as a steak house to charge premium prices (you’ll notice that the menus in images are quite different than the menu on their website given the shift) - if you are looking for a steakhouse experience, I don’t think you will find that here. The restaurant is too small to be grand and too casual in my opinion to merit a “steakhouse” title. My guess is that they’re trying this angle because Arya, their steakhouse neighbor, just moved to Palo Alto, so they may see a gap in the market. But I would never buy their $150 steak, because this does not feel like a celebration style restaurant. It doesn’t have special occasion vibes - it’s a little too dark, busy, and cafe-like - and the service while attentive is not five star. If I could break it down, I would give: Three stars for service Three stars for ambiance Three stars for wine Four stars for food

Walked in with our reservation and were seated quickly. The menu is small but their food is delicious. Snack, appetizers, and main course were worth good selections. They will offer to take your coat. Try their drink menus, nice selections to choose from as well.

A nice spot for drinks and dinner. The standout dish was the Korean fried chicken. We enjoyed the salad and appetizers we ordered but wouldn't return for them. All of our food came out very quickly. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching all the drinks get made.

The food here is as good as the cocktails, and staff are friendly! The vibe’s pretty good, but prices are higher across the board than I’d have hoped. We loved the arancini, the warm citrusy olives were also great. The jam used in the burger is terrific! We thought the squash in the gnocchi made that dish a bit too sweet though. We tried a G&T and a gin punch-style cocktail, both had great flavors.

We got the brussel sprouts, pork buns, and salmon. Everything was delicious and well cooked. The salmon has a nice crisp layer. Definitely get the pork bun sauce on the side. I tried one seed and it burned. Would have been good if there was at least one more entree that was healthier (not burger or fried)

I’ve always had good experiences here. Their menu - which changes every month - is populated with small-ish but delicious plates. I recommend the seared tuna dish - there is usually one. Also, they have a collection of Amaros for an after-dinner drink, as well as some tasty cocktails.
