Tried out this local eatery hoping for the best since food options are somewhat limited on Mercer Island. I came away impressed with the tasty and authentic dim sum plates. I overheard the waitress explaining that the chef is new and a Hong Kong transplant. Also, they will be expanding the menu to include more noodle dishes and congee, which is promising.

I’ve only been hear once since the new ownership, but I really liked the Ma Po Tofu. It was not dumbed down, but had some serious heat and Szechuan peppercorn (numbing spice) which I love. I’m looking forward to trying some of the other dishes. Service was good, though there was only one other table so that might not mean much.

There is a new cook and kitchen at Tiger Garden and it's fantastic. The food is Hong Kong style and delicious. The flavors are light and subtle, portions are good and the price is excellent. The shrimp wonton soup has a light broth and the wontons are delicious. Must try. It's a huge menu with sizeable portions for family style dining. If you go alone, be ready to take food home.

A hidden gem on Mercer Island! My wife and I have always wondered about this place as we drive past it daily. Thanksgiving day we originally planned to eat dim sum in downtown Chinatown/international district, but the wait was too long and chaotic. Decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews and was very pleasantly surprised. The dim sum is very fresh, authentic, and delicious. Not greasy and generous filling portions in the dumplings and baos. Served hot and in a timely manner. The food was priced fairly and the wait staff was nice, courteous, and attentive. Being half Chinese and from a food centric family, I’m pretty experienced in traditional dim sum and Chinese cuisine. I highly recommend Tiger Garden, especially if you live on the island or close to it and don’t want to deal with the hustle and bustle of downtown Seattle.

I had the vegetarian tofu. It was staple American Chinese food and very delicious. Lots of tofu and veggies with onions, red bell peppers, and water chestnuts. They even give white rice for free - a rarity in my experience. Will definitely come back, thank you!

The Kung Pao I ordered was good, but had no spice at all when I asked for not too spicy. When your dining atmosphere looks like a small daycare with way too many toys, you probably shouldn't gouge your customers $2 for a teabag from a giant Costco box of tea in a single mug. You could also have more than 1 foamy green choice of tea. Give your customers reasons to come back, not reasons to look elsewhere. I was the only person there, and I was there for almost 45 minutes. 😕 That's always a bad sign.

Tried this spot over the weekend with some friends for my birthday! We tried calling & the phone line didn't go through. We then ordered online and it worked so we walked over about 30 mins later to pickup the food. When we got there they hadn't actually received our order because apparently their online portal calls them over the phone and because their phones were down they never received our order! We decided to place an order there still even though it had already been 30+ mins, the lady was very kind and took an entree of our bill for the inconvenience. They also closed their actually location & are serving food at the dive bar next door. We ended up getting our food in about 10 mins and it was pretty good! We got the sesame chicken, beef chow fun & veggie medley. We asked for fresh tofu and got fried, and our sesame chicken was a little hard/dry but other than that it was great! I would definitely come back & the service was great! Beef chow fun was delish.

I was very pleased with my experience at Tiger Garden. We ordered an array of steamed and pan fried options and there wasn't one I wouldn't get again. There are many vegetarian options. The green beans and the broccoli were cooked well. Interesting meat and fermented foods. Some only rice noodle options which were wheat free. I am looking forward to going back, eatting well and not breaking the bank.
