We came in on first Thursday’s after exploring San Pedro for a bit. Very attentive server, nice ambience with open fireplace and old wood decor. Feels like an old Irish pub. Food is good. Sausage rolls were not what I expected, it’s an actual sausage wrapped in pastry, not ground meat. The Fish and chips were great and the gravy on the sausages and mash was really tasty. Two rounds of beers and ciders for two and it cost us $120 with tax and tip. Also they had karaoke on Thursday night which was a nice surprise. Recommend if you’re looking for warm vibe and comfort food.

This is an Irish pub in San Pedro, so it's not necessarily where you think to look for Irish fare. Our server was great....very friendly and very attentive, and all the staff seemed pretty welcoming. The atmosphere is a bit more dive bar than Irish pub and could use a little updating. The food was a little hit and miss. The chowder was a little fishy, and the ice cream with the bread pudding was freezer burned. But the French Dip was really good (and those fries/chips are probably worth the visit all by themselves)! The Scotch egg was different than any other we've tried, but in a good way. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't super busy, but was starting to pick up as we left. So probably a good sign that the locals were starting to flow in. Not a "must stop", but worth a try.

Oh, do not pass this Pub by at all!! This is the real deal and the finest fish n' chips this man has had in a long, long time!! You know you're gunna to have the Guiness, but don't overlook the other assortment of fine beverages to be had ...recommendation, Starr with a flight... Service 5 star....

The service was good, but the food was just OK. The Shepard’s pie wasn’t that great, but the fish and chips and fish tacos were good. The scotch egg was ok. They did have a mushroom soup and that was absolutely amazing though!

Food was good. Atmosphere had the feel of a 200-year-old Dublin pub. Fish and burgers slightly undercooked. May have to send back for more cooking. Staff were very accommodating. Arriana (server) was super nice, knowledgeable, and unbelievably sweet. I'll be back!

The Whale and Ale is on 7th Street in Old Town San Pedro. It is a hidden gem and you must try it when you are in town. They have the best pub food in the City. It is just a perfect place. Parking is on the street or behind the store front. We easily found metered parking right in front. We were there for lunch and it was not too crowded. We decided to eat outside and we loved it. It was a wonderful day and the umbrella kept out any sun in our faces. The entire staff is ever so kind. We were greeted right away and seated. A server was soon with us for a drink order. The menu is great. It goes beyond just pub food, it is fine dinning food in a pub. It is that great. We ordered calamari, mac and cheese and fish and chips. My grandson ordered and the server was so sweet to him. We decided to share it all. And there was so much fish and chips we had some to take home. The calamari was lightly breaded and just wonderful. I was able to get one before my "sharing" grandson ate the rest. The mac and cheese was out of this world. It was so full of cheese and had a great cheese grated top. We have ordered mac and cheese at some very expensive places and this one tops them all. Just amazing. The fish and chips were battered perfectly and so good and we got 2 huge pieces and could not finish it. Not one item was any less than what you might find at a 5 star fine dinning place. The prices are reasonable. We went inside and found spotless bathrooms and the cutest bar and sitting area. They even have a fire place. All the staff said hello as we walked by. We felt so welcome and we don't drink. Oh, and they have live music at night. Go there. You will just love this place. It is amazing.

Some of the best food I've ever enjoyed at a Pub. Brittney was our bartender and made me a fantastic Coconut Margarita (it wasn't on the menu yet) Whoa!!! Was it DELICIOUS! I highly recommend you order one from her on your next visit 😁 The rest of the cocktails are delicious too! The rest of the staff Ty, Kim, Genesis, Evelyn, and the owners Martin and Susan are all AWESOME! I'm so glad my fiance Michael happened to find this local spot. I loved it!

Visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and chose to eat outside on the patio. First the service was great! Greeted warmly and promptly when entered by what seemed all the staff. Ha, it was “hello & welcome” in stereo. My girlfriend had the Steak & Mushroom Pie and loved it! Great recommendation from our waitress. I went for my favorite, good old Fish & Chips. And they didn’t disappoint! Perfectly crisp fresh cod, and the chips were made to perfection. Next time we’ll eat inside and take in the ambience that is Whale & Ale. But on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, it was tough to pass up the sunshine.
