Outstanding local establishment that checks all the boxes. Not gourmet but assured good meal and never leave hungry- portions are huge. Great happy hour shout out clams casino. Home made pickles are winner with no equal. Cheesesteak and chicken cheesesteak made with 14-16oz meat. Ridiculous. If you can grab Seay at bar do it. Plenty of conversations and TV 🍻🍻🍻🍻

Have been to Phil’s twice in the past few months. We ate at the bar. Bartender was not good at all. Couldn’t remember who ordered what. She repeatedly carried food to several different customers before getting it right. She also wasn’t attentive with getting drinks. Food was just as disappointing. Ordered the cheesesteak. At $16.99 just for the cheese steak, I have to say it was the worst cheese steak I’ve had in some time - Dry like a paper towel. Fries & coleslaw cost an additional $5.25 and we didn’t get the coleslaw. The fries were the best of all the food.. The apps at $7.50 a piece were just OK. The lamb chops were good. However, the clams casino had too much bacon and the fried oysters were really oily. Best thing at Phil’s is the draft beer selection.

Pleasant pub setting. Huge menu, fair prices and excellent service. Feels like a well run local joint. Food was good. Chili and ribs! Gets crowded and limited parking so maybe avoid the rush.

I have been going to Phil’s since 1988 and enjoyed the tavern until this past weekend. My wife and I went there for a late lunch. My wife wanted to try the Lobster Reuben for the first time. When the food arrived she cut the sandwich and took her first bite. The small piece of lobster was inedible because of being overcooked. She examined the rest of the sandwich contents and saw no more lobster! The sauerkraut and Swiss cheese made up the rest of the sandwich. We requested the waitress to take back the sandwich and asked for a different sandwich from their menu. The waitress agreed and brought out the new sandwich. Oddly, another waitress brought us the bill. Reviewing he bill I found that the lower priced sandwich was charged at the higher priced Lobster Reuben. I pointed that out to the waitress and she took the unpaid check for adjustment. About 5 minutes later the Manager came to the table and told us that our waitress told him that my wife had ate all of the Lobster before requesting another sandwich! When I challenged him, he stated that the kitchen weighs the Lobster portion before serving and inspection indicated the Lobster had been scraped off! We refused to pay the bill! He finally took the bill and adjusted the price. The waitress received no tip for lying and my 35 years patronizing the restaurant has ended!

I only did a takeout order so I can't really comment on the inside or the service, but the steak was ok.

I eat here and order take out here very often. Service is great, food is delicious and very consistent. Burgers are huge. They've got something on the menu for everyone. they also have good gluten free options.

Absolutely loved this place! From appetizers to dessert, everything we had was delicious. Our food came quickly and was cooked to perfection. Our server was very friendly and provided excellent service. I will definitely be back the next time I visit Philadelphia!

This is definitely a local hot spot with someone inside no matter when. Great happy hour, good prices, surprisingly great food considering it looks like a pretty typical, old school bar. Great service and kind people around made me, a woman traveling alone, feel safe and comforted. Thank you and I will return!
