Located across from Edgar Thompson USS steel plant in a neighborhood that most of us wouldn't consider spending a special evening. The unexpected and pleasant surprises are not just on the outside, but more in the inside. Great ambience, excellent food, terrific list of cocktail (try the watermelon cocktail with tequila instead of gin!), friendly staff and fine dining experience. Items on the menu look great and tasty. Very good variety even for a vegetarian. Gets very busy during weekends. So make reservations in advance. Or plan a visit on Wednesday or Thursday when they have the tasting menu. Main dining area and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Dining area on the side has one step which you can't climb with electric wheel chair.

Definitely the best new place in the Pittsburgh region. Starting with the bar, the drink menu shows the expertise of the restaurant in crafting unique cocktails. I sat at the bar for dinner (highly recommended if you like being able to see the kitchen prepare the food). Our bartender recommended 5 plates for two people. It was the perfect amount of food. My favorite is the night was the pigs face. It was like a pork crab cake and the highlight of the meal for me. The smoked potatoes were also good and I can't wait to have them again. Reservations are recommended and can be made on open table.

Food: Good - Flavors are present and presentations are great. Excellent unique options though the menu are limited and very little proportions at time. Service: Excellent - Very professional and courteous. Even have alcohol and menu samples at times. Overall: Recommend - Definitely worth the drive, you won’t be disappointed. Prices are a little steep.

Came in Wednesday night and sat at the bar. I had such a great experience thanks to great service from both the kitchen staff bartender and bar manager. They made the whole night that much better. The food was top notch along with the pride from the kitchen in presenting it. Will definitely be back.

We were lucky enough to get last minute reservations at Superior Motors during a visit to Pittsburgh and were completely blown away! I could honestly go on and on about our experience here and will do so and update this review with a link to an extended breakdown. This place in my opinion is on the cutting edge of culinary experimentation and excellence, not only in Pittsburgh, but the country as a whole. Living in Los Angels, I am privileged to have places at my disposal that offer flavor combinations and profiles that most only get to experience if they make reservations 3 months in advance and fly across the country for a visit. Superior Motors is doing something special here, not only for foodies, but the community it resides in. Don't miss this one!!!!

Located next to a steel mill, a surprisingly good restaurant. Great dishes with imagination that work, all starring an ingredient but not minimizing the other things on the plate. Good wine list, good service, impecable presentation. Excellent price for what you get. Highly recommended for sharing.

My husband and I recently ventured to Superior Motors for dinner and it was an excellent experience! The menu is diverse, with fresh from farm produce and high quality meats, and rotates pretty regularly from what I can tell. Our starter was beef tartare. The flavors were really intense and wrapping it in the nori paper (as our waiter said, “like street tacos”) was a new take I really enjoyed. I had the lamb for my entree and it was unbelievably good. A sweet and savory mix that surprised me, and it went well alongside the lentils and yogurt. I had their vermouth drink alongside it, an herbal, lemony drink that was really refreshing. I later had the rye, and the gin drink, with watermelon and lime - completely to die for! [From John, regarding his entree & drinks:] The tuna entree featured a generous portion of quality tuna seared rare with a coriander seasoning rub. It was delightfully savory and sweet, but paled in comparison to the light summer salad served on top. It was undeniably fresh, light, and summery - easily the best salad ever served to me at a restaurant. I didn’t care for the pureed olive sauce under the tuna and salad, partly because I don’t like olives *that* much, but also because it overpowered the very delicate flavor of the tuna itself. I had a crisp wheat beer with the entree, and followed it with the bourbon excellent cocktail over desert. [/John] Our dessert was the sourdough poundcake, which was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Moist but delicate, with blueberry and honey to dip in. It also had an excellent caramel ice cream alongside it. We loved how flavorful it was, and it was a significant serving, too. Not too overwhelming with sweetness, but still felt like a really indulgent dessert! The restaurant’s atmosphere is very casual and modern, but has the touches you would expect from somewhere that started as a car dealership. There’s a lot of natural light, and there are low half-walls of painted cement (similar to the floors). There’s music in the background, courtesy of cassette tape decks and vinyl playing full albums. The service was excellent. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the drinks and food, and pleasant to talk to. We never lacked for full drinks or waited long for service. The manager, Chris Clark, took us on a brief tour of the kitchen and areas still in progress. The kitchen is surprisingly quiet, but is filled with busy people. Clean and very simple in appearance, featuring some unique space for smoked meats and roasting vegetables. The staff was really nice and welcoming even when we were stepped into their space, which was really great. We also got to see the back area where they’re putting in a theater (hopefully seating around 75!) and box office, and then walked out the back to see their community bread oven and the upcoming patio seating. We were excited to hear about the job training program that they have in place, something promised by the planning, and look forward to seeing the trainees grow and bring their work to the community! It does seem like Superior Motors is working towards - and fulfilling - their promises made by the Kickstarter, in spite of setbacks from a few different directions. We are so grateful to Chris for letting us see the restaurant in full and for the excellent service, and can’t wait to go back to Superior Motors for another excellent meal!

An excellent dining experience The atmosphere is clean and stylish without being over the top. The staff is warm and friendly and genuine with a local character. The food is painstakingly prepared to perfection and lovingly plated. With unusual offerings like Seitan And Sturgeon and tonka bean. But with a scattering of common staples like potato and scallops and salmon so the less adventurous can find an option. The service is effortless yet on point. To be there when needed or appropriate, yet not intrusive as is often the case at higher end restaurants. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had.
