User Reviews

I used to work here and I was treated like a dog. I worked minimum wage and have been working in the subway franchise since I was 16. I recently quit when I was 22. I had over 6 years of experience, but they would give manager positions to people with less than 3 months of experience because the managers would always quit so fast. They don’t know how to successfully run a business. I went to school for business, and could have ran the business better. The reason why I didn’t say anything and write a review before was because I didn’t want to take it to the extreme. Today I was waiting in line to cash a check at Walmart and a lady complimented someone else braids and said they were nice. Her reply was “I’m glad you like them because I got fired for having braids in my hair today.” I have never turned around and looked at someone so fast. I asked her where she worked, and low and behold it was the same place. Subway on Whitehall in Mystic. She proceeded to tell me that she also worked under the table for 13 dollar which is under minimum wage and illegal. I have ran into many other employees that would tell me they were under age and working illegally under the table. They exceeded the labor laws for minors in Connecticut. The way they spoke to her is derogatory, I find it very racist, that was an act of discrimination. Typically I would face a lot of discrimination, working there, especially as a woman not only from the customers, but my managers and the person that owns the store. He would constantly try to hire pretty young females in high school so he could be a creep. My manager at subway in Mystic, Pete had stalked me up until the point I contacted his wife on Facebook and told her to tell him to leave me alone and they both blocked me. This was an issue because he didn’t even follow me would look me up, when I only have photos in bikinis, etc. I don’t think it’s appropriate for a 40 plus year old man who was my manager, who has a wife, and a kid on the way to even view my social media. I deep cleaned the store every time I worked because it would be disgusting, they never cleaned for weeks unless I cleaned, dirt, grime, and dust everywhere. Flys swarming all around the store, they told me when I first started to try and swat the flys away instead of hiring an exterminator. Not only did they have flys, they had other insects and rodents. Beyond describable, one of the lowest cleanliness standard I have seen. Every person that work there told me they had seen a mouse at least once or twice. Every night I always had to do the dishes they would leave me because I closed alone. Every day I would come in set my things down, clock in, wash my hands, take out the trash at night, wipe down all the counters, fill the bread cabinet, do left over prep no one did, stock, wipe all the glass down, do the chips, sweep, mop, deck scrub because the floor was so dirty, clean the refrigerators, do the condiments, clean the bathrooms, clean the oven and the proofer that nobody clean, there would be caked on dirt on the oven and I would scrub for 40+ minutes a day just to try to get the oven somewhat clean. And the proofer always had a pan underneath it for the water that dripped out of it, and every time I would empty it there would be straight moldy water. And they hired anybody off the streets literally felons I would know because at the time I was a felon. They didn’t even do a background check. They hired me on the spot. I would be cleaning all day and every other coworker would be sitting on their phone at the desk leaning over four hours while I just clean and did all the work. The photos that I have are some of the things I had to deal with or clean when I came in. None of the food put away It was always left on the counter for me to prep, nothing stock trash not done, these aren’t even the bad photos that I took working there. Hopefully one day they treat their employees with some respect, and be able to run a business more ethically. Embarrassing.

Said he was closed at 7:15 and refused service to the lady after me. Your open till 8, not 7. Rude and inconsiderate.

I ordered food from Uber eats and when I tried calling them (15 times and they still didn’t answer the phone I had to call the gas station phone) to change something and they didn’t answer the phone. So I spent $30 for food that wasn’t even how I wanted it. I will not be coming here again.

A regular Subway shop...located in gas station convenience store. Small shop. Usual fare but disappointed: no chopped salad! Otherwise OK

Sandwiches were made, dressings on the side but they had run out of lids for containers!! But clerk improvised and she gave me sauce in a soda cup that had a lid. So it all worked out for me. Someone forgot to order supplies. Sandwiches were great though

Katie was awesome and gave great recommendations. We were just passing through the area and surprised by great the customer service was.

Very friendly staff and fresh food. I eat at alot of Subways, and the staff here was very friendly, fast and great service. overall great experience.

It's Subway. The service was good. The sandwich was good, though I'm starting to feel Subway is getting a bit expensive for what you get. It's not bad, it's just that a local restaurant tends to have better quality ingredient often for a lower price, but that's applicable to most Subways I've been to. Can't beat the convenience though.
