Walked in Thursday special, all you call eat fried chicken for $13. We got greeted right away, friendly staff, ordered checked fried steak and Thursday special, come with salad bar. Food came quickly from the kitchen. Pies look delicious, but we are stuffed. It's a place to have good food, a good service, and an affordable price to eat.

Man vs food... I eat out a lot due to my job. I ordered the country fried steak and wasn't disappointed. The portion size for the price was pleasantly unexpected. Combine it with the salad bar that comes with it and you'll be taking home a to go box. It is hard to find good food north of i10, but my meal tonight was seasoned well. The menu is a short 2 pages, making it easier for us indecisive people. The staff was friendly and the inside is a step into the past. I'm thinking about coming back for lunch before I get back on the road.

Our waitress had a really good sense of humor, she was prompt and friendly. The portions were very good! The price was nice.

Pretty much an average restaurant. Service could have been better. Food was okay, I certainly have had much worse. Don't know that I would go out of my way to eat here. But since I was spending the night next door I decided to give it a try.

L❤VE this place. Bustling little gem. Old fashioned, homemade goodness served with a smile. Our meals were hot, fresh and just like grandma made. Dessert was an indulgence that was SO worth the calories. I highly recommend that everyone give Russell's a try. You'll be glad you did!

I award my stars given the expectations of the genre of restaurant, they are not Michelin stars for how haughty the cuisine is. Russell's serves, good, plain, down home every day diner food, and they do it really well, with absolutely excellent service. This was one of the few restaurants in the country that was actually able to keep up with my husband's coffee demands, and actually offered me a refill on my iced tea. They were quick to get our order, quick to set down the plates, and the food was hot, wholesome, and delicious. I love senior portions, as our appetites just aren't what they used to be, and I do not need to be eating like a trucker off an all-day run. I got the liver and onions because I'm just that way. I enjoy a good one, and they did really well caramelizing the liver, and there were plenty of well-caramelized onions on top. The mashed potatoes were firm and rich with a good coating of brown gravy (there was a choice of brown or cream), and the salad bar had plenty of everything that should go on a salad and then some. My husband got the fried catfish, which was crisp, hot, and lightly battered. He really loved his baked potato. It's just plain, good food at really great prices.

I guess this place simply does not care about customer service. I have been stopping here for about 25 years, but I have stopped for the last time. I generally get the Rustler burger with a double patty. I am allergic to onions, so I order it without onions, each & every time. A couple of visits ago, I was told by one of the servers that they preassemble the vegetables, and store them together. So the onions, pickles, lettuce & tomatoes are just in the refrigerator all together & when they need a setup, it is ready to just grab one. So she said if I need it without onions, to order it without vegetables. So I did! Also, I prefer Swiss cheese, however this place does not have Swiss. So they tell me to order White American because it does taste more like swiss, and it does. Well today's visit is the last straw. Not only do they refuse to accommodate a customers needs, they also cooked it in someone else's hash browns, which I did not order. There were hash browns cooked all throughout the burger. Since the last time I was there, and it has been a while since I was in town, they have now changed their fries to the coated french fries. They are no where's near as good as the other ones that they used to have. They are just grease sticks. And the burgers I had were cooked to a charred hockey puck. I just do not understand why they cannot seem to get an order right. It is not that big of a request to get it without onions, yet they refuse to remove them from my plate. They have not got it right for the last 5 or 6 visits, so I am done stopping at Russell's. How many chances do you have to give a place to get it right? I am done rewarding them with more chances to try. The current owners have ruined this once gem of an establishment. My server was great, he was attentive and prompt, so I did leave him a tip, but as for the food, it sucked!

Stopped by for dinner when going thru town for the first time. We live 2 hrs away but we’ll be back. Chicken fried steak was the real deal. Homemade bread/Tx toast was delicious!! All of it was great. Got pie to take home, it looks yummy! Just a good, old school type restaurant. Good food.
