I was very hopeful for a wonderful experience after reading the article in the Hickory Daily Record. Unfortunately, Rose and Daisy failed to measure up in almost every way. The restaurant is decorated in a cozy and inviting manor, the lighting was dim enough for a romantic dinner, yet bright enough you could see your food. Upon entering, we were not acknowledged by any staff and remained waiting in the entry for several minutes, wondering whether we should seat ourselves, or continue to wait. Eventually we wandered toward the bar and were finally able if we'd like to find at the bar or sit at a table. Despite the rather small size of roughly 17 tables, not all of which were occupied, the restaurant was very noisy. After being shown to a table set with plates and silverware, the two additional place settings were left in place. The lovely table framed welcome sign had dried food on the glass. After being sat, it was 8 minutes before a bread basket was dropped at our table, without a word, and another 7 minutes before a server asked what we'd like to drink. I ordered UNSWEET tea, yet was served sweet tea 3 times before finally receiving the unsweet I requested. The tea was mild and tasty. My husband ordered coffee which he said was quite good and nicely strong. It did however take several requests to get a coffee refill. When our appetizer of fried ravioli arrived, we were quite pleased. The sauce served with it was fresh and tangy. The ravioli, while somewhat understuffed, was crispy and flavorful. The side salad was served on a flat plate with dressing on the side and salad kept falling over the sides of the plate onto the tabletop. The Caesar salad was served also with the dressing on the side, I'd never seen that done before. The Caesar dressing had none of the spicy flavor of sardines its usually known for, instead tasting mostly of mayonnaise. The ranch dressing wasn't homemade as I thought it should be either. The entree of Chicken Marsala was over salted, yet somewhat bland. Not a single mushroom slice was in the mushroom gravy. The side dish of pasta wasn't well drained, so the sauce wound up getting watered down. The Penne alla Vodka lists bacon as a key ingredient in the pink sauce, yet there was no evidence of any bacon flavor, or of bacon itself aside from a single dime sized piece of rubbery fat. We ordered 3 Cannoli to go. The Cannoli were half the size you'd expect, the shells were soft rather than crunchy, and the ricotta filling that should have been sweet and creamy, was neither, not did it completely fill the meager shell. Although great attention was given to the dining room decor, the bathroom was neglected. It featured cracked and uneven tiles, stained grout, unusable handicap bars (due to placement and proximity to the toilet paper dispenser), an unnecessary fabric upholstered chair, and a far too small trash can. It appeared as though the bathroom had not been checked all shift as the floor was littered with paper towels. There were also 3 separate deodorizer dispensers, creating an unpleasant, highly perfumed experience. It appears as though Rose and Daisy has some potential, but has some work to do to get there.

First time finally eating here. I missed Italian food like I grew up on. Chicken marsala was fabulous!!! All food hit that spot. And the staff was great, cannot wait to go back!

We never thought that we would come across an authentic Italian restaurant in tiny Catawba, NC, but we did right on Main Street. Rose and Daisy is an absolutely perfect place to enjoy a delicious Italian meal. Gilda and her son Eric have created a menu based on recipes from Gilda's mom and grandmother. A little secret about their preparation- they put love in everything they fix (and you can tell)!! The day we visited Rose and Daisy we started with fresh garlic bread and a delicious Caprese Salad. The Caprese salad is Fresh Mozzarella, sun ripened tomatoes and fresh basil drizzled with sweet balsamic glaze and olive oil (so yummy). We were lucky enough to try several entrees on our visit. We had Gnocchi Sorrentino- homemade Italian dumplings in marinara sauce with melted fresh mozzarella Oh my goodness, it was amazing. The gnocchi melted in my mouth- so good. We also enjoyed Chicken Francese- floured cutlets sauteed in a light butter, white wine and lemon sauce. This was delicate, but had a rich flavor- so perfect!! Then we got to try Pasta Micheal Angelo- which is not on the menu, so you will have to ask Gilda if they have any available. Now you would think we had enough, but we had to try some dessert. Wow! We enjoyed homemade Cannolis- one of my favorites Italian treats. The cookie had a perfect crisp and the cream was a dream. Then we had some blueberry cheesecake- so creamy and the blueberries were a perfect touch. Everything about our dining experience was wonderful. Gilda and Eric welcome you into their restaurant, just like it was their home. They make sure that everything is perfect and that you don't leave hungry. You need to visit Rose and Daisy. If you are in any area close by (2-3 hours) you need to call them up, make a reservation and go enjoy some of the BEST Italian food and hospitality that I have ever had.

Starting off the people were quite nice very welcoming and helpful. Sadly, the food did not meet the standards expected expresly for the prices. Twenty dollars for a very standard chicken parmesan. Quite disappointed

Rose and Daisy is simply the BEST Italian restaurant I've ever been to. It's a rare treat to find everything I want in a restaurant in one place. Here's what they did right; The setting is intimate, warm and has character but it doesn't have that feel of trying too hard to get it like so many other do. The service is wonderful. You get the feeling that everyone in the restaurant has a vested interest in the success of the place and they truly want you to be satisfied. They treat you as if you are the only customer, which is how is should be. The food is absolutely the most fresh, flavorful Italian I've ever had - and I love to cook so that says a lot. All this for very reasonable prices, far below what I'd expect to pay. We found R&D by accident and it's about a 20 minute drive from home but it is more than worth it. We will be back, and often!

Absolutely delicious!! Fresh homemade meal. The chef came out to greet us. Quaint. Cute. Delicious.

Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere, and awesome service! It was a great experience overall and I look forward to going back in the near future to try the rest of the menu. Another note to highlight is the passion of the owners. This isn't just a restaurant to them, it's an expression of their heritage! They take so much pride in sharing their experiences with those that come to visit, it's amazing and I can't brag on them enough for what they are doing! I hope you take the time to stop by and give them a chance to wow you like they did me. You will not regret it!

A good find in the town of Catawba. I heard about it from someone at work and it did not disappoint. The main courses we had were very good. The hand-made ravioli with rosemary cream sauce was superb. Garden salad and appetizer OK. Atmosphere was a little rustic, but classy. We had a nice date night without the kids.
