We tried this diner yesterday for lunch and had a great experience. The place itself is so cute and we enjoyed sitting outside in the lovely weather. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was awesome! The hollandaise on my eggs benedict was delicious, and they put enough on it to be able to also dip the potatoes in it, as it should be. My husband also enjoyed his fried haddock, which had a nice crispy coating. We will be back for sure!
Very quaint little diner with a homey feel. Staff were very busy but seemed very polite and helpful. Stopped by for a quick coffee before driving back on the road, but ended up getting a few bites to eat. If you ever grew up in a small country town this diner gives that feeling of home-cooked country food. The restrooms however, were little tiny to maneuver around and since we were catching the last opened hour was not recently cleaned.
I’ve been coming to the Peterborough Diner at least 1-2x per week for breakfast (and lunch several times) in the last year. I have never had a bad experience here. They always get my order right, no matter what I order. The food is always hot and fresh and the restaurant is kept clean. I’ve been to other diners in these old dining cars and they often times rely on the dining car to draw people in for the “experience”, but miss on the food. That is not the case here. If you’re not worried about calories, order the Country Fried Steak Eggs Benedict! It’s delicious! But you will also need a mid-morning nap. They have delicious pancakes and french toast that you can’t go wrong with. A decent kids menu, too. If you come in a lunch, you can’t go wrong with the burger or the hot dogs (the chili cheese dogs are great, too).
Very nice place. Seating is limited which is understandable with diners like this. The food was good. My home fries were a little cold though for my Irish Benedict. The pancakes were amazing and big. So they will fill almost anyone up. The French toast was amazing and big as well. They also have a lunch menu but I didn't get to try it as of yet. I am looking forward to updating this review once I have.
Our party had three people and our meals included eggs, toast, home fries, pancakes, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy. Coffee was decent, much better than what they serve at Nonnies, along with the service and atmosphere. The pancakes, eggs and toast were great. However the bacon was unbelievably salty, making me gag. Something about the sausage links was off. The biscuits and gravy were also loaded with salt and would be just fine with half the salt. Home fires were just...there, flavorless. Crazy, overly-salted staple food is a big let down, especially to start your day. I suspect their lunches may be better. However I'd like to give this place another shot.
Great classic diner- breakfast all day. We had some great pancakes with real syrup (ask for real instead of table) and a Denver omelet. They close a bit early- 2pm today so plan ahead. Located in Depot Square and there’s tons of great shops to check out in walking distance. Toadstool Books is just across the parking lot
This was a wonderful dining experience. The staff were amazing. The food was delicious. The cook was able to prepare poached eggs perfectly! I am looking forward to going back again soon!
Nice cozy restaurant to have breakfast
