Large portion and the crust was great. Nice environment and solicitous service. They no longer have the lunch specials.

Omg y'all may or may not know I am gluten free and the staff went above and beyond to make a Better Girl pizza bowl for me and I am enchanted by the magical flavors. The loaded fried potatoes delighted my inner Hobbit. Hunter, my waitress, is the sweetest lady and deserves big tips! Mater's is well worth a visit.

Food was AMAZING and great portions!! The pizza was filled with lots of toppings and cheese!! The spaghetti was these best I have had. The sauce was fabulous! Our server Bradley was very helpful with suggestions and making sure we were taken care of!!!

Exceptional place. The atmosphere is very comfortable..almost Cheers like. The food was delicious and came in a timely manner. And then you add music that was perfect. Not too loud so that you couldn't talk and great music from when we grew up. Y'all this is exactly what we needed for this area. I strongly encourage you to spend an evening with Maters in Fort Payne. You won't be disappointed

The atmosphere was great, the location is great & the wait staff was great. What wasn't great was I ordered pasta and it came to the table 40 minutes before my wife's pizza arrived. I understand long wait times for busy periods of the night, but to have the dishes come 40 minutes apart is inexcusable. The restaurant looks great, but you need a kitchen staff that is just as great.

The location in ft.payne is clearly influenced by who you know. After wait over half an hour to be seated. When we where seated (just my wife and I) we had waited another 10 minutes and no one had arrived to even take our drink order, all the while a party of 6 or more sat down not 5 minutes after we did and had there complete order taken. I honestly couldn't tell you if it was a good value or if the food was good because after speaking with the manager my wife and I left... I'm sorry we wasted almost an hour and a half of our Friday night to try out the place. We won't be back!

So coming to Alabama for my daughter's gymnastics camp and to visit parents in Gadsden, one of the highlights of the trip is going to Maters. Been visiting Maters since I was a child when they first opened in Boaz. This visit 7/15/2023 was the worst experience at any restaurant ever. Believe me, the military took me to many countries and many restaurants and I have never experienced this type of service. To start, the waitress came to the table with an attitude whicn I can usually overlook. She took our order (2 piece childrens chicken fingers and a half betterboy, half cheese) and didnt come back for like 15 min. My daughter's 2 piece chicken fingers sat on the bar for at least. 10 minutes. Finally i asked another waitress if we could get my daughter's food to which she was very helpful. When the new waitress addressed our original waitress, the new waitress gets cussed out by the original waitress saying shes busy or whatever. The place isnt crowded at all. We finally get our half betterboy half cheese only to have maybe 8 or 9 pieces of meat on the betterboy side. Half and half....4 cheese, 4 betterboy not 5 cheese and 3 betterboy. By now the whole experience at maters is gone. We asked the manager to remake the pizza to what it should be. While waiting on the new pizza, i observe the same rude waitress yell and talk down to another member of the wait staff over an ink pen. Still no refill after 35 minutes so i took it upon myself to go behind the bar and get my own tea. Finally we get our pizza and asked for it to go because the night has been totally ruined.. When i go to pay with a one hundred dollar bill the original rude waitress, who should go on ebay and take whatever tip money she received and buy a personality, says in an condescending tone "We dont have change for a $100". Needless to say she went to the front and found change. I hope that the management of Maters rids the establishment of this toxic no customer service having woman. She brought down the environment for the customers and other employees

The food was good the service was okay. The worst part came at the end. There was no one at the register for about 10 minutes and then when she finally came she was very rude. She started trying to rush me. She was basically telling customers to get over it they were short staffed I get it since covid everyone is short-staffed no excuse to be rude to customers.
