Not much to pick from in Heflin, AL. So I gave it a whirl. Good call! Brunswick stew was tasty. Bbq is very tender and no gristle or fast. Definite repeat.
Good portions, good price and really nice folks. Most of all the food was very good. I liked the Brunswick Stew a lot. This is coming from a Georgia boy. If you are from out of town and looking for a good spot to eat at this place is a solid go-to.
We try different bbq restaurants as we travel to compare with our local home bbq. Marie's is ok, but nothing to write home about. My pork sandwich was small but tasty, but I've honestly had much better beans and potato salad.
My brother-in-law introduced us to this place. It is about a 35-40 minute drive from our home in Carrollton, GA. Always well worth the drive! We had the pork plates with homemade fries and onion rings...also added a fried corn on the cob! Just love the friendly, smiling faces in this restaurant. They don't know us from Adam, but they treat us like kin folks. If you have never tried their cream horns, you are really missing something special. They have vanilla and chocolate, but you'd better get there early because when they sell out...you miss out! Love this place!
My husband and I stopped at Marie's BBQ House on our way home from a road trip. They have a menu board right inside the door and you order at the counter. I had a barbecued pork sandwich and coleslaw. My husband had the pork stuffed potato. The food was good. A young lady brought the food to our table, but otherwise there wasn't any "service".
Great flavor homemade sauce and tender meat. Coleslaw just like my mom use to make. Drive through order of sandwiches and sides for two ready quick. Was a perfect meal after several hours of traveling.
I ordered ribs with baked beans and fried okra. It was very good. I would give it a 5 STAR but that's all I tried when visiting Marie's.
Great food, fast service, and good people! A small town gem! I'm a huge fan of the chicken salad on croissant sandwich. Best Brunswick stew EVER!
