User Reviews

Very nice little restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was tasty. I loved the 2 different kind of salsa they have with the chips👍

Excellent service. Very nice food. I recommand it.

I ordered the Chile Relleno dish. On top of the pepper was a cooked egg, rather than the pepper being fried. Not only is this not traditional but not tasty or appealing. The taste of the chicken that I asked for to be stuffed into the pepper tasted off. I think that someone inexperienced cooked the dish which I understand from working in the food industry, but this was foul. I do not recommend. I ordered take out and items were missing as well. Very disappointing.

Small quaint, nice atmosphere but, the plate I had and margaritas I ordered wasn't The Best. The meat wasn't seasoned and had a strong meat taste to it, the rice and beans wasn't the best either no flavor, the margaritas were more bottled mix then anything else.I was pleased with the horchata. Wouldn't recommend the place.

My girlfriend and I came here for dinner. We got in at 9 (they close at 10). There were 2 other guests here besides us. The young waitress came over and pleasantly greeted us and got our drink order. The interior is fantastic. The waitress explained that the owner had it custom made. I thought it was fantastic, and my girlfriend loved it, being that she's from Mexico. I ordered the frozen margarita. The normal margarita was delivered. She said they could blend it, but in my opinion by the time that was offered, the ice had melted quite a bit, and if they put more ice in it, it would have been watered down. I told her I'd drink the one that was delivered, and please reflect that on the bill, since the frozen margarita is more expensive (she corrected it). After about 10 minutes of waiting and conversing with my girlfriend, the waitress came by to check to see how we were doing. She notified us that the food would be out shortly (she never took our order). After we kindly told her this, she looked pretty embarrassed and apologized. She took our order, and I requested another margarita. The second margarita was perfect. Period. It was stronger and tasted great. We both ordered a meal deal for two. I got the chicken quesadilla and the soft taco. The food was fantastic and definitely not TexMex, which was refreshing. My girlfriend approves of the food as authentic. She would've been critical of the food had it been TexMex, being that the chef is advertised from Mexico City. Our visit started with a few hiccups, but in the end, we enjoyed ourselves. We'll chalk it up to being late on a Saturday Night and the staff was probably worn out.

Ordered shrimp tacos and requested all toppings (cheese, lettuce, etc.) on the side, that was completely ignored. I'm not even upset about that mess up, I'm more upset and will never eat at this restaurant again because when you order shrimp tacos, the shrimp should already have the tails taken off...the tails were left on the shrimp🤦🏾‍♂️

Tonight was our first visit, we ordered takeout. We both thought the food was great but it's the first time I've been served fajitas without accompaniments like cheese and sour cream. Had I known I would have paid for it or just popped into the publix a few doors down to pick some up. We asked for chips and were told only people eating in the restaurant get chips and salsa. When I called I asked what sides come with a particular dish and was told none, It's a meal. I asked so just meat, onions, peppers and cheese the response was to list the ingredients including rice and beans on the side (?). I asked if the refried beans had pork or lard I was told yes, then oh the beans, no. None of this would prevent us from visiting again, the food was great. It was just an odd experience for a Mexican restaurant.

My wife and I went to La Valentina at around 6:30 on a Tuesday evening. There were several tables of folks eating and one poor girl trying her best to serve everyone. When the waitress finally made it over to us, she apologized for the wait and said this was her first night working. She had no help and seems frazzled, which was completely understandable. I ordered a Chimichanga and was told that wasn't available because they were changing out the oil. Why wasn't that done earlier? We ordered our food and sat back munching on some of the worse chips I've ever eaten. Greasy and waaaaaay over cooked. About 20 minutes later the waitress walks over to us and again apologizes because she failed to turn our ticket into the cook. We finally get our food about 45 minutes after we had sat down. The food was really good. We both had the beef burrito and it was big and tasty. We asked for the burrito enchilada style, which they don't do, but they did bring out a spicy red sauce that was very good. So bottom line is, I think La Valentina is going through start up pains that most new restaurants go through. Hopefully they'll get better as time goes by. I'll most likely return in the future because the I really enjoyed the food. ________________________________________________________________________ OK...it's a week later and I went back. Things were much better this time. I got my Chimichanga and my wife got the Burrito again. We had our food within 10 minutes of ordering it. It was hot and freshly made. Like before, the food was excellent. Even the chips were very good this time. Our server was Julie and she was a Sweetheart. She is from Cuba and doesn't speak a lot of English, but her enthusiasm and personality made it all ok. She came over multiple times to our table to make sure we were happy. Both my wife and I just adored Julie. Our experience this time was awesome and we'll definitely be going back to La Valentina. I've raised my rating to 4 stars now, and if they keep improving like this, I may have to raise it more.
