A great little find while we were shopping in the strip Center there in Port Charlotte. The food was very fresh, large portions, and full of flavor. The kids enjoyed beef fried rice, and some sushi with me. Great service also, they were very accommodating when our kids came in after our lunch had already been served. My only complaint was that the tables were very worn and a little sticky. The restaurant could use some updating. But we did enjoy the food and that it was reasonably priced. This will remain on our go to list whenever we visit family in Port Charlotte again. Kid friendly and no wait were a plus!

Words cannot describe the utter bliss of Sushi šŸ£ perfection. Do not be strayed away by any of these low reviews, I was satisfied on every level possible from the service being on point, to the most amazing chef's I've ever experienced. I would recommend this to any Sushi enthusiast! If you're feeling adventurous, tell the chef's what you like about Sushi and ask for a customized"surprise me" roll, you will not be disappointed. Best sushi I've ever had hands down, The bee's knees, item 9, next level, Sushi art! This is great!

Iā€™ve been wanting to try this place and Iā€™m glad I finally took the opportunity to recently. A few things, I preferred the clear soup over the miso which had a LOT of seaweed in it. The ginger dressing on the salad was good but a little watery. The hibachi tasted great. The bento box with Vegetable Tempura was a little to oily for me (since changing my diet) and I would switch to the teriyaki option next time. The three pieces of shumai in the box tasted AMAZING and I wanted more! Iā€™d definitely go again for an affordable lunch out.

Kumo Japanese steak house is worth the visit: good food AND entertainment! This is the best Hibachi restaurant I've been to in the SW FL area. The food is excellent and the chefs are entertaining. On a recent visit, I placed an order for the Hibachi grill, and my wife ordered sushi. The Hibachi meals come with miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. The salad was ok, but the soup was excellent. The chef we had was clearly not a new hand ... he had his moves down pat, including juggling knives, flipping an egg into his hat and the standard onion volcano. The Hibachi included fried rice, sautƩed vegetables and 2 shrimp in addition to whatever food you ordered. I tried the seafood delight, with shrimp, scallops and lobster. All were done just right, with a good sauce (teriyaki?) with dipping sauces on the side. My wife's sushi had both good presentation and tasted great too! I'm not a big fan of sushi, but I tried the honeymoon roll and it was excellent! Another companion ordered a martini and hot sake and pronounced both excellent. The only minor issues (and the reason for 4 stars rather than 5) is that service was a bit slow, and the chef, while practiced, wasn't as good as some I've seen. We had to ask more than once for such items as sake and soft drink refills. Granted they were busy, but I don't find that an acceptable excuse. As to the chef, he made no mistakes, but some Hibachi grills I've been to have more elaborate moves (ex: catching a thrown shrimp just before it hits you) and more entertaining banter. They didn't do a bad job, they just could have done a better one. I would definitely recommend Kumo to anyone looking for food & entertainment at the same time.

Second visit here this past weekend, and it wasn't as good this time. I ordered the Golden Dream roll, and the husband ordered the Sexy Roll. Whenever we get sushi, we always try each other's rolls. My roll was just okay, his was not very good. It just didn't have much of a taste. The miso soup was super watered down also. I've never been to the other locations, but this one just didn't do it for me this time.

Order the Hibachi Combination, it comes with soup and salad as starters. The two we ordered were the Shrimp & Seabass and the NY Strip & Scallops. The shrimp were a little tough which is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. However, my Seabass was cooked to the perfect temperature and seasoned very well; no need for salt and pepper. Additionally, the steak was cooked to a textbook medium rare and it was quite tender. The sauces were light in flavor but complimented the veggies and protein very well.

Great taste! First time here so we tried a couple kitchen appetizers. The shrimp dumplings are my favorite. FYI the shrimp appetizers that comes with your entreƩ is just 2 shrimp added to your plate.

Amazing sushi! Had a wonderful time with my family celebrating my brother's birthday.
