UPDATE: I tried again during a dinner service and I am happy to say it was a much better experience. The food was good. Nice quality and helpful staff. The star of the meal was the Carne Asada plate. The meat was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. We all enjoyed our meals and will be heading back soon. I was very excited to try this place. I have been looking for a small Mexican restaurant that my family and friends can default to when we want something close. I was underwhelmed by the food and service, so this place is not it. The servers were pleasant but not extremely helpful or attentive. Add to that the order was wrong and not a great start. The food was a 7 out of ten not bad but not enticing enough to go out of our way to get it. I did stop during lunch so maybe they were not putting their best foot forward so I will try again. I do want to find a good place that we can grab a nice meal and not feel like I'm in a fast food place. This has potential, hopefully my next visit is better. Side note, chips and salsa were good, the beans ok.
I usually don’t eat at Mexican restaurants because my mom is a great cook and growing up with her food doesn’t compre to many places BUT THIS PLACE is the closest I can get to her cooking. Took my family there one Sunday and even my dad ate their rice. It’s as authentic as it gets. Love their service, love their food and love the fact it’s close to us. They prep the food fresh and doesn’t take long to get. Their daily specials are good deals. We have had the cheese enchiladas, asada fries, abondigas soup, menudo, beef enchiladas, beans and rice and of course the salsa and chips. All their salsas are super good and made fresh. We totally recommend this place if you are craving good Mexican food or if you don’t know what to have dinner. Support loca restaurants!!
Our first time in and this place was great! Very authentic, flavorful, and piping hot. I could eat here every day. Try the chili rellenos! They are crispy, not soggy. Excellent beans and rice.
Loooooong wait after ordering. 2 young ladies behind the county nice but very busy. Ordered chicken tacos. Upon rec. my order, I was hoping the onions would have been grilled...NOT. The tortillas wee not really hot, in fact, they were the thick tortillas instead of street tacos, not even on the burner long as the taste was vague, no real flavor. Cost did not meet the quality sad to say.
Food is good. Especially the tacos. They don't yet serve alcohol, so four stars. Parking can be hard to come by at times, but with the dance studio on hiatus it's much better.
Me and the fiancé went here for a bite after coming out to the area. Came to Hortencias and had a delicious lobster taco and one of, if not the best california burritos I’ve ever had. Highly recommend to try this if you’ve never been. A small little restaurant with solid prices and flavorful food!
Kimberly always takes great care of us when we cone in. My wife and I love the fajitas trio. Chicken, steak, and shrimp. Love the portions and we never leave hungry Chips and salsa are also good. Washed everything down with some tasty iced tea.
The ground beef enchiladas are my favorite. And the machaca is great too! Great service and great food 👍👌👌👌👌👍👌👍👍👍👌👍
