An experience we will never forget. The history of the building almost matches the history of this family owned restaurant. Some of the best steaks, seafood, and chicken we've had in our food ventures. Try the garbage salad! Service was top notch and super attentive. Cool photos hung up on the walls. A must try if you have the opportunity. Saluti!

I gave 3 stars for atmosphere because of the table we were sitting next to. The children were out of control and no one said anything. They were not in dress code as mentioned. Let's talk food, the chops were OUTSTANDING, the wedges with peas were amazing and the calamari was superb. I ALWAYS enjoy a good meal under dim lighting and soft music. We also got seated as soon as we got there. The ONLY female waitress EVER to serve in this establishment and we had the pleasure of having her as our waitress. She was really polite and respectful. We will return again, just away from a table with children.

A classic in Chicago. While they were out of some items we wanted to order this place doesn't disappoint. The staff was great and the atmosphere of this historic building can't be beat. The food was fantastic: Our steak was cooked perfectly, suggest ordering the mussels/clams.

Old school proper Italian restaurant with great steak cuts, pasta and huge slab of ice cream cake! The food was tasty and well portioned. We get to order three steaks, a pasta and two appetizers for party of four with no leftover. The table is quite close together and the lighting is dim, so be aware if you’re bringing elderly.

Oldest steak house in Chicago, and had the 12oz Filet MR we shared. Believe it was bigger than 12oz, and the char was amazing as was the steak! Red Cab from Tuscany, Italy with dinner...priceless! Pasta with Bolanise as a side, cappuccino to finish off. Top 5 over all dinners ever. Say hello to Louie & Louie who will probably be hanging outside!

My group arrived for dinner. There was 8 of us seated at a table that was made for 5-6. Services was nice, but failed to stay on top of refills or even verify the meals delivered were correct. Over all the food quality, service and atmosphere was nothing special and could be easily matched at less prestigious establishments. For what was charged you would expect the bare basics of a dinning experience to be delivered. Would recommend looking for alternative restaurants.

We decided on the recommendation of a friend to try this restaurant. Gabriel W. was a good waiter with a great team. The water glasses were always refilled, the table was cleared regularly and new service set each course. The summer spritzer was a tangy lemonade with a touch of lemonchello perfect for a summer evenin. The meal was well prepared. We had the muscles and clams ... delightful. The Gnocci was so pillowy soft and the sauce was meaty. The salmon was well prepared but the peas were very salty. The potatoes were quartered and seasoned. The Casoncelli was amazing added meatballs and 4 large golf ball sized meatballs came on a plate. The Burton Amaro was a good drink to accompany the dish. The meal ended with a Panna cotta was topped with the best caramel and fresh berries, strawberry and raspberry. Just the lightest amount of sweet to end the meal. The Mocato Di Asti also was light and lovely with the seafood appetizers, a pasta dish, and lightness of the panne cotta. This is a nice special opportunity to dine al Fresca in Chicago right near the L to really feel like you're in the city. This is a historical building (1874 I think, with a long standing (1941) presence. The menu options are plentiful, we had a hard time deciding! Definitely an upscale dining experience with a downtown Chicago flare.

If you are looking for a traditional old-fashioned steakhouse, this is your choice.. This is exactly the kind of steakhouse I look for. They know how to cook a steak. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect. And the waiters have a bit of an attitude, and I don't mean that in a bad way. You will not be disappointed!
