User Reviews

We have been living in the Chagrin Falls area for almost 30 years and have always enjoyed Gamekeepers as a go to place. Unfortunately our visit tonight although not terrible was quite disappointing. The service was acceptable but not outstanding. The food was fair at best. The salad was ok but a small portion, The prime rib for 2 was very disappointing and the root vegetables were served cold, a small portion and very uncreative. Also disappointing was that the service at surrounding tables was mostly untrained and not acceptable. Very sorry to write this review but hopefully the restaurant will get their act together. The martinis were very good

This place is awesome. Very old school/hunter-eqse decor with wood paneling (no joke). Typical high price, dim eating setting. Minimal local parking. Food is extremely eclectic (I had wild boar sausage when I was there- it was amazing) but super tasty. Serving sizes aren't too crazy. Quite an extensive wine list with little markup. Highly recommend! Totally had Beets, Boar, and Brussels sprouts when I visited (bonus points if you get the reference). If you want to try some atypical meats (bear, boar, venison, bison, etc), this is your place.

I did not even get to eat there, but I can tell you it's a disappointment. My fiance and I were supposed to have our wedding rehearsal dinner here, and that definitely did not happen. First off, the management sucks. They would not keep in contact with us and answer our questions. They were also going to limit our menu options, and they never emailed us the menu like we asked. The owner was extremely rude with my fiance, which I did not appreciate. My fiance just called to cancel the reservation, and the person hung up the phone on him. We ended up having our dinner somewhere else. We always hear from people that Gamekeepers is amazing. LIES! Other people have told us that even though the food is okay, the staff sucks. The staff is rude and doesn't care about the customers. Don't waste your time here. There are better restaurants in Chagrin Falls. Gamekeeper's, you need to remodel the exterior of your restaurant. It sucks.

Great environment, friendly waitstaff, and a unique and delicious menu. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make great choices. Highly recommend the Eggs & Bacon appetizer and the elk loin entree. We will definitely be back!

I went to Gamekeepr's Tavern last night for the first time with a couple I do a lot of remodeling for, all three of us were disappointed, the roasted root vegetables were cold, small portion and over cooked, the shrimp cocktail was smaller shrimp for the price, my roasted rack of lamb was rare as ordered but cold and the breadcrumb crusting was on the plate burnt and did not stick to the lamb, there was no flavor or sauce to compliment the lamb. Our salads where excellent, my cliants prime rib was cold and had no flavor, my cliant's wife had the airline chicken breast and it was cold, bread was very good but the butter was rock hard, very nice atmosphere and our service was great. I don't mind paying a premium price for food but it has to be done correctly, seasoning food and keeping it hot is not hard to do. I read some of the other reviews and it seems that this is an on going problem. Someone should be watching the ticket times and checking the food before it comes out of the kitchen, it's time to crack the whip and get the kitchen staff in line and hold them accountable for there mistakes. There is no reason for a reply to this review I would direct your energy and time towards correcting where your team is falling short.

Was visiting this town and saw your restaurant, sat down and waited 10 minutes before we got up and left because no one came to greet us or get our drinks. When walking out, no one even noticed us. Horrible customer service, we watched two other tables be seated and served within the 10 minutes that we waited because they looked like they could leave a good tip. If I could leave zero stars I would. I fixed my rating because the owner contacted me and made up for my experience and that shows he does care about his restaurant! :)

Went to Gamekeepers with a party of 7 for a 80th birthday party that was reserved for weeks ahead, never been there before so was very excited to go and try from what looked to be a wonderful menu and longtime standing restaurant of the Chagrin Falls area. Well I have some good things to say but have some bad things to report also. I even took the time to ask everyone what the liked and disliked about the dinner and experience while there. I decided to place them in groups which would make it easier. The Good, 1) Environment was very nice and cozy with a dark wood look 2) The waitress was friendly and kind as were all the employees 3) The menu had enough selection of different foods for just about anyone 4) The Homemade salsa sauce used on the southwest salad was the Best I ever had and was to die for.. GREAT.. 5) The salmon was very tasty both the planked and the Everything salmon just perfect. Now unfortunately the BAD, 1) Parking was terrible, nowhere to park and it was raining, no valet parking that I'd seen for this restaurant. Get there early and hope you find one. 2) The waitress made errors on drinks one didn't have olives as ordered and the other was a Pepsi that never ever came. 3) Water was asked to brought to the table without ice for one person and she brought hot water in glass 4) The Salmon portions were very TINY for the price paid. Very chincy. 5) The Mashed potatoes were lumpy and cold (not hot at all) 6) The squash with the planked salmon for people was undercooked, top was ok but half way down Very HARD. 7) The Red snapper fish was way over cooked. Not good at all. 8) Many people said the plates were not HOT and food seemed like it's been sitting getting warm not HOT ( huge problem ) 9) Although the waitress came around she did not come around enough to check on the group to make sure things were cooked to everyone's satisfaction, she was gone for long periods of time. But not to disturb the party we kept quiet. 10) The Butter they brought with the cold bread was FROZEN like a golf ball, had to carve it with a knife. 11) One of the biggest problem were the DRINKS, I ordered a whiskey sour and thought it was not only missing the olives I wanted with it, but was VERY watered down. The person next to me ordered a cucumber and vodka special drink, and it too was watered down. I then ordered a regular margarita on the rocks with salt hoping it would be better BUT NO, tasted like very tiny amount of tequila if any. The drinks WERE TERRIBLE. Someone was saving money by watering these down, way down. 12) The aioli sauce was terrible 13) The fries with the sirloin were soggy. Limp and cold , AGAIN, food NOT HOT For being in business for 40 + years you should be on you're a game at all times especially charging the prices you do? Over all very discouraging and would not recommend this place for any special occasion at all to anyone. PERIOD! I will NOT be returning to this place since there are so many other places that are much better for the price.

Great local spot - well-known throughout the area. I came here for lunch and it's pretty quiet at that time. Things pick up around dinner so if you have time during the day and aren't in a rush, this is a great opportunity to come and have a nice, relaxing meal in a neat location. Very cool decor. Highly recommended!
