I've been here years ago and recently revisited. It as beautiful as the first time. The food and drinks are good and the view is beautiful. However, the coleslaw tasted like they scooped mayo on top and serviced. The service was okay, especially when a party of 21 walked in.

Ok, my last trip to this place was about 7 years ago. Food was excellent, servers were great, had wonderful memories. On my way back from business trip had to charge my car and Doubletree parking lot this restaurant is located have the superchargers, figure what a great opportunity to visit back ... little that I knew sometimes its best to keep great memories in past and move onto new places. Started with initial 30 minute wait turned into 45 minute wait. We were able to sit outside with a wonderful view of water. Menu is way different what it used to. I ordered burger with egg. Either the patty or the egg were fried on a same place with fish, there was some unpleasant taste. I have ordered mayonnaise on the side at the time when I ordered for the food, almost 5 minutes into it, mayo was still not there, had to walk to kitchen myself to get it. Yolk was already seeping by the side of the burger and it was cold by this time which defeated purpose of ordering egg. We also ordered a 12 ounce NY strip steak. Cooked well but extremely fatty. Vegetables and mushrooms on the side were great. Mashed potatoes with garlic were OK. All time eating, were not asked about the food or for a refill. Nice place to sit down, enjoy the water views outside. If you are picky about your food, I would pass. Too sad to see how the place once was so great to grab a bite deteriorated over the years.

UPDATE: July, 2023 I was so impressed with this restaurant, that I came back in the Spring 2023 and again, just couple of days ago. This is such a wonderful restaurant in Port Huron and it keeps me traveling over 80 miles (round trip) each time to visit. Another stellar lunch, today, for the 3 of us. Highly recommend the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, the BBQ Beef Brisket and the Fish and Chips. The server Robert was excellent, too. The views are over the top, once again. Of course, more pics of the wonderful food and indoor/outdoor views of this establishment. The atmosphere, both inside and out is fantastic. Can't wait to visit again. Keep up the great work!! Great place to visit when exploring the riverfront of Port Huron. Good food... plenty of fish choices, friendly staff, very clean, nice atmosphere inside, however prices were a bit on the top end. The views of the St Clair River are incredible. During the warm months, there is seating outside to take in the river views, too. Definitely recommend Freighters when visiting Port Huron.

The Fish & Chips are fantastic! So much food I couldn't finish it. Hubby had a burger cooked to perfection. They sat us at the perfect table outside overlooking the water. Service was on top of it!

The only thing good about my experience at my visit to the Freighter was the food itself 👏 compliment the chef..amazing. now to bad we were never greeted we sat fir good 6 minutes or more while managers saw that just walked by before we had find a manager to get served and no apology from manager. The server was pushy and slammed the coffee cup on table spilled the coffee and wasn't offered another one. The server just ignored us never helped at all but was mysteriously there for the check. First time here Won't be back.

We had a great dinner there! It’s comfortable atmosphere, good water view, and family-friendly. Some big party also was having same time. It’s located ground floor of the hotel and is accessed easily. We will be there again soon!

I'm just in town for the month on business and I've been trying to eat at new places. Freighters is GORGEOUS and the view is LOVELY. The food was eh. Service, eh. The waitress was great actually, but they're so poorly staffed and they sat me out of her area, so the poor thing was running a marathon all night. Definitely a management issue, not a waitress issue. (I got the steak and potatoes/veggies and the scoop of mashed potatoes were dry and CRUMBLY). Cheesecake, amazing.

It was ok. We have been here many times. The last couple of visits the food just average. The view and service good.
