User Reviews

I had heard good things about the locally owned Equal Latin and then decided to check it out. The little salsa bar is fun (see photo) as each person can get their own samples. I also thought the pork and bean soup side was yummy and unique. My shrimp tacos were also quite good. Service friendly and the space warm and welcome . It was packed on a Friday night which is a good sign. They also offer salsa dancing nights. I may raise my rating to a five after I’ve been a few times. I’ll be back!!

Delicious! Nachos were extremely satisfying beyond belief. Tacos were yummy, and even the veggies on the side were good.

It was very busy last night, but the waitress was sure to check on us frequently. And the free chips and salsa helped. The Tropical Gin was PERFECTION and the food was really good. Nice atmosphere. I could still have an easy conversation without yelling despite the number of ppl in there. The tables were a nice distance apart, so it never felt like I was too close to strangers or in anyone's way. Just a pleasant place to be. Good food. And I have to mention how good the Tropical Gin was again. I thought it was gonna be a Gin Pina Colada, but no, something different and amazing! Oh I didn't even mention the barbacoa plate. Amazing flavors on the meat and super tender without being mushy. Loved it!

We really enjoyed the food! I don't usually get tortilla soup, but was trying to find something a bit on the healthy side so went with it and wow! was it good! not sure how healthy it was in the end (quite a lot of yummy friend tortilla pieces in it) but it was well worth it. My husband's food was also great. Can't wait to go again to try more.

The people, service, and atmosphere were great. The food, however, was very underwhelming. Both my wife's and my own food were less than mediocre at best. For the $20 chili colorado special, I did not get the amount of protein I should have.. it should have been a $10 dish. At $10 I still wouldn't have been happy. The flavor lacked depth, flavor, and salt in both of our meals which made the price point that much more untolerable. Another disappointment in trying an Olympia restaurant for the 1st time.

SO GOOD and we will definitely be back! A lovely little gem downtown Oly with good hours, great service, a fantastic story, and delicious food. There were so many things we wanted to try but couldn’t eat in one sitting! Everything we ate had great texture and rich flavor, and we really look forward to seeing what the rest of the menu tastes like. The Latin bean soup was just the cozy touch we needed for a rainy afternoon:)

Friendly people at Equal Latin Restaurant. The menu is varied - while mostly Mexican, there's a bit of American as well, burgers and even a Cobb Salad for those who want something else. I had one of the specials - a Chile Relleno in soup! I have not seen this before, and really enjoyed eating the Chile with a clear, tomato based broth and tortillas. They have dancing in the evenings and based on what they were playing during lunch, I'd like to get back here and see what it's like.

I thought the decor and service were excellent. I didn't think the food was too good unfortunately. I ordered the carne asada and my wife ordered veggie tamales. The food was bland. We ordered drinks and they were pretty good (and strong).
