This is the most consistently perfect quality 'fast food' (order from counter, then your food is prepared fresh) I've ever had! I've been there about 10 times and the gyro has been perfect every single time! Somehow, their pita bread tastes like it was just made each time I get it! High prices ($12 - $13 for an incredible gyro & baby salad, no drink) were easier to pay when Despina's was on Hawley Street. That was a beautiful restaurant! Now they moved to Main St (nice clean place but smaller and more 'historical' interior) to a place that looks like it's about half the rent, but same high prices came with them. The food is WELL worth the 'high' price. It just means I go there a few times per year instead of a few times per month.
Chicken Souvlaki is past 5 stars, there’s really not anything you can get here that isn’t authentic & fantastic. John & Bruno were extremely personable, genuine & made guests feel welcome, checking in often. A local staple. 👌🏻
Absolutely love there salads. What makes a salad? For me it's all about thedressing. And nothing beats a house made dressing. And despinas is so flavorful with herbs and spices and the right amount of zest.
Little Greek restaurant we stopped ar in Binghamton on our way home from Syracuse. Would DEFINITELY make this stop again!!
Great spinach salad! Plenty to share. Lamb gyro was also quite tasty. Very clean facilities.
I am a recent graduate of Binghamton University and I do not have enough nice things to say about Despina's. My friend and I attended the Broome County Regional Farmer's market every Saturday and specifically looked forward to going for the Despina's stand that was there weekly. There was always a plentiful array of delicious options and Despina was always so kind - making our week better every time we saw her. Our favorite dishes to get were always the Spanakopita, Greek Salad, and Moussaka. Some of the items present at the Depsina's stand at the farmers market aren't on the menu at the restaurant which makes it fun to try some of their other specialties! If my friend and I could rate Despina's with even more stars we would. Thank you Despina's!!!
My wife and I stopped by for lunch. She had the chicken souvalki pita which was really good. I had the steak panini which was good. It was cooked perfectly, but the steak was tough. I also had the lemon orzo soup which was excellent. I would definitely go back if in the area.
If it wasn't for the good food it would be zero stars. Found a gift certificates for a few years ago and decided to use them today. The certificates state that they do not expire. Was told that they would not accept them because they have their old address on them. Even though it is the same company and same owners. Was very disappointed.
