Great first visit! Cashier was super nice and helpful I did not catch her name but wanted to mention her in my review because she was so nice. If she sees this: Thank you! I ordered the rib plate with mac n cheese and collards then added a side of pulled pork. Dang it was all so good. The ribs were my favorite and they gave me a huge portion I believe it was 7 ribs! Very generous portions here. The mac n cheese was wonderful. Adding this place to my list of fav mac n cheese. I was unable to eat all my food so I took it home and it reheated beautifully in the oven the next day. Definitely going back and definitely recommend it if you are looking for some good BBQ!

I ordered the large pulled pork plate which, as you can see, comes with a generous portion of pork, 2 sides (baked beans and mac 'n cheese for me today) and toasted Texas toast. I'm impressed with the taste, texture and moist protein here... this is how pulled pork is supposed to land on your plate. 100% edible with nothing left behind here - AND plenty of "bark" to enhance both taste and texture. The mac 'n cheese was warm, creamy with just the right taste. Made with larger more substantial noodles (think tortiglioni) it has the great advantage of holding lots of their creamy cheese sauce, IMO it's perfection. The baked beans are a solid #2 favorite with a big smoky sweet flavor - no need for help in the taste department here. (Sometimes, I find myself adding some bbq sauce or bits of the protein to up the taste quotient for the beans but that's definitely not necessary at Dave Poe's.) Heck, these guys have even found a way to elevate the bread... look at that sear! If there is any knock I could make it would only be about temperature on the protein. My serving was generous and tasted great but could've been better with an elevated temperature. Still, 5-star dining for great BBQ in Marietta, GA.

Atmosphere wasn’t inviting! Ordered St. Louis style ribs plate with Mac and cheese and baked beans $21.15 Barley cheese and a lot grease on the mac. The beans were thick as if they had just been sitting in a warmer. The ribs had a lot of fat! I spent majority of my time picking the fat off. The bbq sauce was a thin texture that had no kick to it. Over all everything had no seasoning! Nothing that stood out! Bring your own season and bbq sauce! The bathroom had no tissue in the holder on the wall , it was used just rolls sitting on the toilet tops! THANK GOD A NEW ROLL IN PAPER WAS IN THE NEXT STALL! I wasn’t about to touch any of the Other ones! It’s safe to say DAVE POES IS MORE OF POOR DAVE! ( as in feeling sorry for this establishment) get some new recipes!

Had the rib platter. Poes is always good. I dont understand however why they leave the peritoneum (membrane on the back of the ribs). It's easy to remove. Leaving it on makes the meat chewy and blocks the smoke and seasonings from getting to that side of the meat.

Wow! I don't usually eat my most loved food (BBQ). BUT when I do I want it to be so good you'd consider smacking someone. 😋 Well I happened across so of the best BBQ I've had the plot enjoying in quite some time. DAVE POE'S BBQ. If you don't know of or haven't heard about them let me put you up to speed on Dave Poe's. No doubt about it. I've been missing out all these years on one of the most awarded food spots around. I can now tell you 1st hand ✋️ they deserve every award. I had the pulled pork lunch special. I was shaking my head in approval with each & every bite. The staff was busy delivering orders but still friendly. The customers were so friendly also like they had been coming there for years. So not to get too long winded I'll leave you with this. I've already planned another visit with some friends to try more from the menu. I'd highly recommend you plan one too and let me know what you think. Check out the pictures for more info.

If you have not been to Dave Poe’s you are missing out! The Mac and Cheese is amazing! I ordered the red neck lasagna which is Brunswick stew with Mac and cheese on top and it was delicious! Also had the pulled pork, wings and brisket- all super tasty!

If you're looking for good brisket, don't come here. About the blandest brisket out there. No seasoning, no smoke, and no smoke ring. I could make better in the oven with just salt, pepper and store bought sauce. BBQ sauce is a disappointment. The Kansas sauce taste like 2 parts brown sugar, and 2 parts ketchup with smoke flavor added for good measure. The Spicy sauce is just Louisiana hot sauce with some bbq sauce added to turn it brown. Baked beans are straight from a can. And the fries straight from the bag.

I had heard that the BBQ and pitmaster in this area were legendary, so I was excited to try Dave Poe's smoked meats. However, I was disappointed with my purchase of ribs, pulled chicken, and brisket for $100. The meats were lacking in flavor, tenderness, and seasoning. It seemed like they were leftovers from the previous day or had been sitting in the warmer for too long. The brisket was dry and tasted like pot roast with no moisture. The ribs were from a young hog, resulting in small bones and dry meat. The pulled chicken had some flavor but was dry and required a lot of BBQ sauce. The sides were Mac n Cheese and Baked Beans. The Mac n Cheese was the best part of the purchase. The Baked Beans were thick like oatmeal, but I'm not sure what was in them. This was my first time at the restaurant, and I had high expectations due to Dave Poe's reputation in the area. However, I could have spent half the money and gotten the same quality at Sonny's.
