I had the Thai peanut flatbread, my husband had the walleye sandwich and one of our guests had the Ruben sandwich. The flatbread was good, not excellent but good. Not sure if I'd do it again as I like to change it up when I go out to each. My husband said his sandwich was fine, could have been hotter. The ciabatta bread was excellent. My guest said that her Ruben was good and she gets it every time she's there. The bar area could have been a bit cleaner...the floors.

Just came from a wonderful dinner of walleye and rib eye steak, both very well done. I've been coming here for 40+ years, starting with live music in the 70s, and have never been disappointed in the food or the atmosphere. Not fancy food, not fancy decor, but always tasty, good food. Blue cheese dressing is terrific, fries crispy and hot, walleye and steak done perfectly. So sorry to hear about Harvey's death last year. My folks used to have dinner there every Saturday, and they loved chatting with him.

We stopped for lunch and what a fun surprise! A great experience for everyone, especially kids! Great service and food!

So here is the short backstory. As kids my parents had a 1951 Lighthouse Deluxe mobile home on some property near Annandale. It looked like a caboose and we called it the "Choo Choo House". Fond memories for me. Mom saw an ad in a website for obscure / fun restaurants across Minnesota and the Choo Choo Restaurant was on that page. She brought me here for some nostalgic fun The place had a full sized caboose inside. The interior is not bright, shiny, or new - but I like it that way. Give me a Choo Choo Caboose over any crApplebees anyway! The waitress was super friendly and helpful. She listened to my parents share the story of how we came to try the Choo Choo Restaurant - and was patient with us as we wandered around the place taking photos. She was great explaining the specials and the menus and patient while we decided what to order. We all ended up with either the club sandwich or BLT. Everyone really enjoyed the meal. The food was tasty - portions were generous - fries were crispy - home made chips were great - and the onion rings were ginormous. I had the club on marbled rye bread with the fries. It was phenomenal! The waitress checked on us numerous times and was very attentive to us during our meal. We were there by 11am - and soon after the lunch rush started - it was far busier than I would have expected. Nearly (if not a) full house. That speaks a lot about a restaurant to me! We are already making plans to return!!

The restaurant is a clean rustic place with amazing food, drinks and service. I enjoyed Mark’s Choo Choo wings and Ribs. We also enjoyed the Walleye fingers ( breaded with Ritz cracker) wow. The restaurant was almost full, yet it was not noisy. (Awesome acoustics) Our dessert was the Apple Crisp and it was amazing!

A moderate bike ride from Baker Park Campground. The Stroganoff special was a great value. Nice interior ambience, a great stopping spot a block off the Lake Independence Trail.

Awesome food, great service, and did I mention great food! Wanted to try like 10 things off the menu. Will definitely be back again.

Our waitress was so rude upon initial contact that we decided to leave without ordering. When leaving, another waitress apologized and said they got really busy… there were three tables occupied. Dirty place, too. Do not recommend.
