Gorgeous location with the beautiful views of the Harbor. The food was delicious. Our kids had the Mac and cheese and it was the cheesiest homemade Mac we’ve ever had… they should make it an adult entree. The coconut shrimp and prime rib were fantastic. We’ll be back again.

We have been coming to the Chart House for special occasions for decades! They never disappoint. We had a wonderful dinner last night. The food is delicious as always and the ambiance is pleasant for an intimate dinner for two. The mud pie is a classic for them and delicious as usual. We haven't been here in years as we live in Texas now, so pleased to see it is still a great place to eat.

We're so happy that we get to dine here. I made a reservation online. We got lucky with the valet cos they only have 2 spots left at that time. We went during Father's day. We waited for 15 more for our table. We sat outdoor and the wait was worth it cos of the view! We have our waiter Jake whose very attentive. All in all it was a great experience! 5 star!

As a wedding photographer I recently shot a wedding at the Chart House in Dana Point. It was such a success! I was really impressed with the venue. The wedding started in the morning approx 11am so it worked out great as the entire restaurant was used for the wedding. The restaurant has different large rooms that were perfect for the pre-wedding prep of both the bride and groom. The bride and her bridal party had one large room and the groom and the groomsmen occupied a large room the other half of the restaurant near the bar. The outdoor grass area was perfect for a first look and the Dana Point Harbor panoramic views were just a stunning backdrop for both the first look and the ceremony. It was a Jewish Wedding and everything went off beautifully. The Outdoor ceremony was very pleasant and then they held the reception indoors. Tables were placed together to form larger long tables and the dance floor was in the middle of the room. The food was delicious! Family photos and bridal party photos were shot outside incorporating the ocean in the background. It was really beautiful and there was plenty of space and atmosphere. The bride and groom did a grand exit complete with bubbles and it was a short drive to the beach to shoot some bride and groom romantics at the end of the evening. This was my first wedding shot at the Chart House but it really did work out nicely. The bride and groom were very happy with the results and I would recommend it to other couples in the future.

Disclaimer - I really enjoyed this restaurant, the view and the food, however there is a mildew smell and I’m sure it is from the carpet that is in the tower that leads to the seating level. It is the only reason that our dining experience wasn’t more enjoyable. It might be worth having someone assess it. We had a great shrimp cocktail, filet, sides and even dessert. The ambiance is amazing and watching the sun set from the booths was lovely.

I loved the food, and the atmosphere, everything went amazing in my experience, I wish they were open for lunch and brunch also, the view it's too gorgeous to not enjoy it in the day time too

This iconic chain of restaurants serving food with panoramic views is what it is. We did get our request to be seated by the window overlooking the marina during an early Saturday evening. The lobster bisque was yummy. However the steak was over cooked and the Mahi Mahi dry. Service was basic. Valet parking is the only choice.

Despite having a reservation, it took 15 minutes to get seated and another 20 before the waiter took our order. Although service was spotty at first, the food made up for it. Bruschetta: 4.5/5 - The toast was nice and buttery and came with a generous amount of roasted cherry tomatoes. Creamed Spinach: 5/5 - creamy, melty, and well-balanced. Prime rib: 5/5 - The temp was well-executed and came with a nice horseradish sauce. Coconut shrimp: 4/5 - each shrimp was butterflied, then fried. Great crisp. Rice was OK but got cold pretty fast. Fire-grilled mojo shrimp: 4/5 - shrimps were pretty big and perfectly cooked. The sauce and toppings were pretty good as well. Overall I would come back to this place, perhaps when it is less busy.
