User Reviews

Overall, our food was average. The butter chicken was great, but the portion was pretty small- way heavier on the sauce than the protein. My vegetable dish was extremely average, spicy, with not a lot of flavor and it was extremely heavy on red onions. Our samosas were okay- but drier than most. The Old Fashion drink was presented very well and was very strong; My drink was tasty, but not very strong. The naan was room temperature and fairly flavorless- it was also pretty hard. The service was pretty good and the atmosphere was lovely. Worst part of the whole meal though, was the “lava cake” dessert. It had absolutely no “lava” in the center and the ice cream on top was spicy! The “cake” tasted like a hard corner of a 3 day old brownie that had been microwaved and then brought out. The total for the meal was $157… definitely NOT worth it. Overall, we were super excited to try this place because it had some amazing reviews. This place certainly did not meet our expectations.

The atmosphere is great a fun and interesting fine dine experience in Virginia. The food is small portions and you'll need to get more dish if you are trying to fill yourself here. Overall the taste and flavor are goood but some dish are better when made traditionally. The seating is bit weird The sofas are pretty low and had a bit hard time reaching some of the dishes. Can do few changes other than that great good just a bit pricey for the place.

Beautifully decorated interior with excellent customer service. Food and drinks were delicious! Save room for dessert. The General Manager went out of his way to accommodate our dietary restrictions and helped to make our anniversary dinner a special one. Incredible gem of a restaurant in Reston! Love it.

THE PRO’S Decided to try out this restaurant for a date night. The atmosphere was great, very nice lighting and nice setup! The service was very good, the server was very helpful with giving recommendations for food and drinks. I not once had to ask for a refill on my drink as soon as it was low they had it full without asking. The food was tasty but it does have some kick if you have a low tolerance I would definitely tell them. CON’S The food portion was very small I paid $36 for the braised shank and it was barley any meat. They also give you a small bowl of white rice as a side, I was still hungry after eating it. The prices were a bit high for the protein it was $6 for one piece on naan, which is REALLY high! The drinks were great very tasty but also high in price $34 for two drink. Lastly I don’t like how they automatically add 20% gratuity, I normally tip 15%-20% anyway but at least you should give the customer a option to chose especially being a party of 2. OVERALL Great experience, good service and beautiful restaurant. I might try again but they really need to work on portion and price for certain items. I would recommend to others just the the experience.

Very welcoming and helpful in recommendations for first time customer. Gilbert was very patient and gave excellent service. Every dish and drink was delicious and beautifully presented. 10/10 for the fish curry. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience!!!!! We love the food and ambiance! Everything we had was sooooo delicious!!!! And the creativity in their dishes - They perfectly combined traditional Indian cuisine with the new elements and modern design! Would definitely come back!!!

This was my first time at Bombay Velvet, and I really enjoyed my experience. Harry was amazing he gave great recommendations & great service. I love the ambiance in here as well, its a regal dining experience and the food matches the looks. Very tasty and flavorful dishes, I’ve found my new favorite Indian restaurant in Reston!

I rarely write reviews but our experience at Bombay Velvet was so dreadful that I feel compelled to share it. Despite being the only diners at the restaurant, our service was, to put it mildly, very subpar. The prices were astronomically high, which we could have accepted if the food was of a corresponding quality. Sadly, this was not the case - the shrimp curry we ordered was so undercooked that we ended up leaving half of it uneaten. This not only raised our concerns about the quality of the ingredients they used, but also the potential health risks that left us questioning the overall hygiene of the kitchen. The experience was further marred by the addition of a 20% service charge, which, in our opinion, was entirely unearned. This service charge was on top of tipping, which felt rather audacious considering the poor service we received. In sum, our dining experience at Bombay Velvet was a complete letdown. For the high prices charged, one would expect exceptional food and service. Regrettably, we received neither. Given the myriad of dining options available, I simply cannot in good conscience recommend Bombay Velvet. One star.
