Everything was great, starting with the chef 👩‍🍳 and the food quality. The only thing, I believe, needs some improvement is the waiting time. The host was stressed out due to angry customers having to wait longer than expected. I understand food is pricey here, but you pay for a great service and awesome food.

I must say, I come here every Thursday or I should say once every other week and so far this is by far my best experience yet. I have never done a review because none was worth doing. The food was always basic and the chef never interacted with us UNTIL TODAY. TODAY, WAS MY BEST EXPERIENCE HERE. My chef goes by the name Eli, the food was extremely tasty and he had our attention through and through. This was my mom's first time herr and he made her experience amazing to the point she says to me, I want to come here for my birthday so he can cook for me again and with disappointment I said to her we can't request him, we just got lucky today. He had the table filled with life and had us engaged every step of the way. He educated us on the sauces which no one has ever done and was very polite and professional. His attitude and demeanor filled the atmosphere and made eating here a pleasure. I hope this won't be my last meal here. They need more chefs like Eli. 🥰

Went for Mother’s Day and it was a cool experience. The chief was late, there was a table that sat after us and was served before us. The rice and noodles are served first but while you wait for the meat/seafood they get cold. The drinks were more sweet than strong. Andrew was our waiter and he was busy, but still helped us! The salad and soup was good! But you can tell the salad came from a package and not freshly cut from the actual veggies. I wish it was more entertaining but overall cool.

My first time at Benihanas ever. Now im aware of the popularity, I've been to a single hibachi style restaurant in the past in City Island and honestly I'd pick City Island. It was 2 of us on my birthday and they sat us with a group of 6 (5 children and one adult, all girls) who also had 2 birthdays. Food was great though it was very cold in the restaurant. The table grills were packed somewhat tight and the place was nearly packed. Arrived at 630p and had to wait about 20mins for a table. My biggest and only issue was with our drink order. Didn't recieve them until after everyone's food was done. No water was offered (I've become accustomed to not asking for it) and the manager wasn't really trying to offer an explanation (wasn't looking to get the drinks free but some kind of discount would've been nice). I hear the location in New York city is way better. Overall my first time at benihanas was good but im over it and I won't be returning.

Our chef was Otto, he is the best, very friendly and polite. His tricks were amazing. My kids love them, and the food delicious. Windy was our waitress very nice and lovely. Both make us feel welcome. Definitely we are coming back.

Chef Eli is entertaining and the food is spot on. You can tell he is passionate about cooking. Had a great time at Benihana at Short Hills

Pros: the nice young lady with locs - she took out drink & soup/salad order. Hmmm about the rest …where do I begin… 1. Bartender wasn’t there or was running late so we couldn’t order drinks from the bar (milkshakes included) 2. Xavier at the front desk seemed miserable. Not a smile in sight as we checked in. That would have made a world of a difference. Working in customer service jobs requires you to at least pretend to appreciate the patrons. He seemed annoyed/frustrated during check in. 3. Food was super super underwhelming, super super basic, not delicious. Shrimp hibachi & sautéed veggies was good. Lo Mein was bland and trash. 4. Dumplings were below average & a little soft for my liking. 5. Banana tempura was decent 6. Soda was flat 7. Chef kept scraping the burnt stuff from the grill TOWARDS the customers …and continued cook with it on the grill I’m not sure how they’re still in business. I only came to this location because the one I wanted to go to was closed . Disappointed again.

The soup came out almost immediatley...which i thought was good till i realized it wasn't hot.. I guess it had been sitting on a counter waiting for the next order. Waitress messed up my order and didn't offer to fix it. While taking orders she asked if I wanted fried rice (not chicken fried or veggies fried), I said yes. The chef proceeded to make the fried rice and add chicken to only half which he gave to other people at our table and when I asked why there wasn't chicken in mine he said I didn't order chicken I ordered vegetable fried rice and there was nothing he could do about it. When I asked the waitress she said I told her I wanted fried rice but didn't I didn't make the distinction between chicken or vegetable (so instead of asking she chose for me) Ive been to this Benihana numerous times and have never had to say chicken fried rice, and if its something new she should have asked me which one I wanted and not just guessed. Its a small thing but when you're paying over $100 for a meal you want no issues, and certainly not the small things to get messed up. Also she took my card and check and then walked back and asked how much I was tipping (based on their options), so I didn't even have the opportunity to look at my bill and make my own choice...and no receipt for my own records...so how do I even know how much she tipped herself?? After many years of visiting this restaurant, the prices have gone up but the service is mid. Yes the food is tasty, yes the chef did his show and was talented..but I think I've had my fill.
