I have been at Benedetta's now for three straight weeks. The food is always great. Not what you expect from a typical pizza place and certainly not what we experience in this area. The usual pizza place uses cheap white flour, not here, you can tell from the taste. As far as the competition, the food here is very, very close to real Italian except they don't have bracciole on the menu. Overall the service is great, the girls always greet you with a real smile and only bother you when you need them. They are very attentive and leave you to enjoy your meal. I will continue to come here for as far as I can see, if I'm eating near home. The personal pizzas are among the best I ever seen or eaten. There is a large variety and they don't charge crazy prices like some of the Staten Island or Queens. The sauce is also very different, has a great flavor and reminds me of when I was a kid. BTW - I don't get heartburn from their food like did from some of the others. This is a great place to eat at and I highly recommend it!
I ordered a 2 pie special with garlic knots and buffalo wings which was an appealing value. Overall the experience was decent. I ordered on seamless so we were given a 60-70 minute delivery window which the food arrived about 10 minutes early. The garlic knots were good and their tomato dipping sauce was flavorful. The buffalo wings had good flavor but the breading was wet and mushy which was very off-putting. The pizza was decent, not noteworthy. Unfortunately, the food was barely lukewarm so I think that also added to the unpleasant experience. With all the other pizzerias in the area, I may not rush back but it being my first time ordering from here, I would probably try them again at some point in the future.
They use good quality cheese which is getting hard to find around here recently. The square Sicilian is a winner for our kids. We have had six consistent experiences. They advertise some well priced dinners also, we have not tried these yet as we tend to swing in early for the boys. We have been in the area three years and this is the first place we have hit six great pizzas in a row which is worth 5 stars.
This used to be a different pizzaria/restaurant and was taken over by new ownership last year. The new owner Mike was really nice and the pizza I had was fantastic. I'm originally from Brooklyn and this definitely beats most of the pizza I had in the area. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend the Sicilian which he gave to me when I was leaving to try. Sauce, dough and perfect mix of cheeses makes it amazing. Thanks again
The place is relatively new and in my opinion it’s above average that the MANY other pizzeria within two mile radius. Although their pizza is on the pricier side but the Sauce is Fantastic! However I think they can use less oil. Almost every time we had had a take out, by the time we get home (which is 5-8 mins drive), it gets difficult to take out the slice as the topping falls apart. We have gotten their pizza more than half a dozen times and this was the case at least 5 times. We think it’s the oil as the bottom of the Pizza Box gets soaked from it. Apart from that their pizza is quite delicious and I will continue to patronize this place. Hopefully the owner will read this review as a constructive criticism and correct the issue. Wish them all the success!
Their SAUCE is to die for. From Plain to Grandma, the pizza is delicious. You can eat a whole pie and not even realize 😱 Sauce, Crust cheese everything is perfect. So glad they opened up here! Definitely my new go to pizza spot! I Can't wait to try what else in on the menu 😍👍🏼. You gotta try it!! From the food to service, not place compares yet. The owners are wonderful and a genuine pleasure to talk to . P.S. If you love something sweet you HAVE to try some Benedettas poppers!!! Cannoli Cream Heaven 😍
My husband and I eat out often and we have frequented other pizzerias in the area. From our first meal at Benedetta's we have not gone to any other pizzeria. The pizza is amazing -- so good I can't even choose a favorite -- food is fresh and made to order. The sauce tastes like home made. It owners are friendly and the restaurant has a family atmosphere Benedetta's is NO 1 in Matawan by far.
We stopped there tonight, 4 of us. We ordered 1 wrap, 1 slice pizza and 2 chicken parm sandwich’s. Waited an hour and place was empty except for 2 couples in the back. The food was horrible. I mean HORRIBLE!! The chicken parm was sliced in half and slapped on a big roll. You couldn’t even see the meat. We complained but They did nothing about it. Not to mention the place was dirty. Now I know why this place was empty and the pizza place down the street Was packed. Save your money and go somewhere else.
