What a terrible place! We booked for 3 nights a month in advance for our honeymoon trip in April of 2017 for May. We like many others I have one read in reviews, received a text message asking what time we would be arriving as they were leaving the property. I didn't get the text till we were almost there. I texted back and the owner met us in the parking lot to give us a key. The only other staff there was a cleaning lady. After getting to our room, the place smelled like thick burnt wood. After looking around we realized the restaurant and bar were burnt down. We booked this place specifically because it advertised a bar and restaurant. We wanted a place where we wouldn't have to travel and drink and drive. I called the owner and told her we wanted to cancel the remaining two night as the place wasn't as advertised. And this was despite the room being disgusting. We had 1 roll of toilet paper. The linens looked old and smelled like body sweat. The room was old and outdated that I didn't want to even walk around with my shoes off. The coffee market was old and gross. The top lid was broken off and they only had 1 plastic cup and a sugar packet. There is no one on site if you need anything. The best thing I can say about the place is the view. It's very clear the owners don't care about this place and must be trying to suck as much money out of it without putting a penny into it. I really wish I would of read through the reviews. Any good reviews must of been from either people they know or when it was owned by someone else. I am now fighting to get two nights of my reservation refunded on my credit card as we checked out early the next morning and the owner said she would refund the other 2 nights as we did not want to stay there a minute longer than we had to. I'm just glad I got her on a text agreeing to the refund as I now have to fight to get the nights we weren't there refunded. This is no way to run a business and if they continue this way, I don't see this place being in business much longer. Please read though these reviews as all the bad ones are the absolute truth and you don't end up being as unhappy and ripped off as us.

We loved the room (Blue Ridge Room). It was clean and comfortable. I had read the reviews about no wood being available so I brought my own. My main disappointment was that their website stated that breakfast was included but the main lodge/restaurant/bar was always closed and locked up when we were there. There was never any kind of food or drink at all available. The first morning the pipes had burst and there was no water to shower, brush teeth or make coffee. We went to Fred's Mercantile and had a wonderful breakfast before skiing. The second morning they were still locked up and dark so no food or drink so we went to Fred's Mercantile again. We checked out a day early due to an incoming storm that would have stranded us. The room was great but no service, food or drink available which I found odd for a lodge.

Took multiple calls to get in touch to change the day I was coming. I called multiple times to confirm but when I got there they didn't have my reservation or room available so we had to settle for a different room and didn't even receive a discount for the inconvenience. Lady at the front desk seemed very clueless and didn't even know where the key was for our room. Very pretty view from the hotel though and not far from Beech Mountain. Also a good size room but wish things would have gone more smoothly. Definitely call days and the day before you show up to make sure everything is in order and know who you spoke to.

After reading previous Trip Advisor reviews, Archers Mountain Inn seemed perfect for tired PhD student who needed a relaxing getaway to the mountains. I'm a very low maintenance person and don't require overwhelming amounts of hospitality, but the service at this place was abysmal. The lack of professionalism I experienced from the manager was almost unbelievable. He blamed his actions on the fact that they were robbed during our stay, but that does not justify his rudeness. His behavior during the stay was truly the antithesis of hospitality. The only good service we received came from the bartender who also served our breakfast. The location is excellent, the views and the hiking are great, but if you're going to Banner Elk, stay somewhere other than Archers Mountain Inn!

I purchased a living social deal to stay at the Archers Mountain Inn that included a 2 night stay, two glasses of wine, and a free appetizer at their restaurant. It was a risk but the deal was good and many of the reviews were positive. I used the deal during the 3rd weekend in July which was about 4 months after I purchased it. Unfortunately, the Inn had changed some of its polices and its restaurant menu since we purchased the deal. The Inn is located about .5 miles from the summit of Beech Mountain. We stayed in the Appalachian room of the Hawk’s view lodge. The Hawk’s view lodge has a nice view of Grandfather Mountain and Sugar Mountain from the 2nd floor balcony. The room was spacious and clean but in need of updating. The fridge was old and had mildew. It also didn’t close properly. Note: THE ONLY AC WAS A WINDOW UNIT LOCATED IN THE BATHROOM! The staff was very nice and accommodating by providing box fans to help with keeping the room cool. There is no phone in the room to call the front desk. There was no ice machine available to guests. The room has 2 sets of French doors but our room was missing the sliding screens so we could not leave the doors open for the breezes. Some of the other rooms had sliding screen doors. Dinner at the Jackalope restaurant was awful. They did not honor the glasses or wine or the appetizer stating that they had changed their menu but did offer us a $7 dollar credit each for breakfast. The menu was simple foods prepared family style. You could order by the plate if you wanted. The choices were limited. We ordered family style with the country ham and country fried steak. IT WAS AWFUL! The steak was shaved pieces that were fried in dirty oil that tasted like other items once fried in it. The vegetables looked and tasted like they were frozen. We actually heard other guests ask what happened because the last time they came it was an upscale steak house. We heard the waitress tell them they changed the menu a month ago. Several people left and those that stayed complained. The meal was so bad we chose not to go back for breakfast even with the discount. All in all, not the best stay and I would not go back unless significant changes were made.

Really, Light bulbs were missing or broken out of there sockets. wondered if it was a fire trap. Air conditioner was installed in the bathroom window with the temp out side at 45 degrees causing a cool breeze. Outside it just didn't look like anyone cared about the property. Value to cost wasn't there. One of the more expensive places and it didn't come close to meeting expectations. Surprise! The restaurant wasn't open for dinner so we had to go elsewhere. Breakfast the coffee was barely warm and food over priced even though they gave us a voucher. they really need to put some work into the place. Buyer beware.

First off, I want to say that I have never written a hotel review before but this place is more than deserving. I'm not sure if it is even possible to articulate just how unprofessional the staff was or the poor level of service. My wife and I booked a three night stay here and when we arrived the first night at 9pm, the office was closed up and out room key was just left outside for us to find. when we called, the girl who answered the phone just told us to find the room ourselves. No one on the staff ever bothered to check us in or explain the property the entire three days. There are several other examples of the terrible quality of this place that we experienced but I want to get to the main event. On the day we were to leave we were getting ready to go and I was in the shower at 10:45am the owner came to the outside of our room and just kept stomping around outside our door to make noise. He then burst into the room while my wife was in her underwear and shouted that checkout was at 11am and if we were not gone by 11:01 we would be charged an extra day. No polite phone call or courtesy knock, just instant violence from this man for no reason at all. I came out of the bathroom with just a towel on, passed my crying wife and went outside to confront him. the man just ran away shouting the same phrase over and over about being charged. After putting on clothes I went to confront him again at the office where he backed down after realizing that it was his fault for never telling us any information (we had assumed check out was at 12 like most places) the man tried to buy us of with gift certificates but I would never stay here again even if I was paid! If you must come to this town, there are several other choices for lodging and I beg anyone who reads this to stay somewhere else!

My fiancé and I came here for his Birthday and used the groupon rate for our stay. I chose to upgrade to the room with a hot tub on the deck and we were very excited about it. When we arrived the hot tub was cold and extremely dirty, so we let management know and they basically told us we'd just have to wait until it heated up and there was nothing we could do, leaving it unusable for the one out of two nights we were there (and paid for it). We were still charged for the full amount of the upgrade, and I emailed them afterwards and have yet to receive a response. That was almost a month ago. Overall, poor customer service, mediocre rooms, dingy, and cold breakfast both mornings. The best part about this place was the view.
