User Reviews

Definitely not a pizza spot worthy of a visit... Pizza is overrated on the reviews. This was not expected after seeing many "amazing pizza" comments. Being a pizza lover and literally trying every spot on the north shore, I was dying to try. I would like to follow the bandwagon but I have to be honest. I'd say at best a 1 out of 5 as a true and honest opinion. Do not let the photos deceive you.. I was excited upon arrival (as well as when it was brought out). The crust is definitely premade even if not totally taste like complete air, the cheese is extremely low quality for any restaurant that serves pizza (after 5 minutes of sitting it literally turns into plastic and becomes solid, 0 flavor at all) totally flavorless bar pizza,I boxed it up to go after a few bites. Not to insult but I blame myself for going to a Mexican restaurant for pizza. I have heard amazing things about their taco's from several people on a positive note. The next time I return I will definitely give other dishes a try. I don't mean to disappoint but the pizza is the absolute bottom for anything nearby.

GRACE WAS AMAZING, even in the face of absolutely chaos. She prevailed. Went with a very large group and they didn't have the staff to handle it but the did it. We have been there ateast 3 times the past week. Food is great, all the servers are friendly and quick. Love it here. We will be back.

The waitstaff here was very nice and friendly. Quick when we needed something and very helpful with suggestions. The margaritas here were very good too! I’ll be sure to try their entrees the next time I come here! Give this place a try!

Damn good Mexican food and really good prices. This is like my favorite cheap place to eat! Pablo Salad is gluten free and paleo too (I think) simple salad, but really good! Update: The pizza is really good. Over the years, this has become my favorite pizza place. I like thin crispy/crunchy crusts and good toppings. I especially like sausage and garlic pizza. So good from here. The sausage is so flavorful and the garlic muat be fresh chopped. It smells so good to walk in and smell the garlic on the pizza cooking. Tastes even better!

If you want a quaint, low- key casual dining experience in the heart of Grayslake, give Abel’s a try for good basic Mexican fare or pizza. The menu prices are a great value for the dishes and Margaritas are delicious. The servers are friendly and efficient although our alcoholic beverages were a bit slow due to one bartender to handle a hopping bar on a Friday night and dining room orders. The reasons for rating one less star are the limited hours (Wed.-Sat) and the chicken tacos which seemed to be cubed chicken thigh meat rather than white meat. Enchiladas were fabulous and other dining patrons seemed happy with their meals. Give Abel’s a try if you want good food at super fair prices and love smiling servers!

The staff at Abels give you the best service along with delicious food and drinks including the steak tacos, shrimp and garlic pizza and variety of margaritas. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the downtown Grayslake district. Five out of five stars

I didn’t get sick- that’s the positive. Otherwise, this was probably some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had. DH got steak tacos and he said they were ok, and service was attentive, so two stars for that. Dining room was packed and everyone waited an eternity for their food to come out- some people walked out. Our food -when it showed up an hour later- was also cold. I ordered the chimichanga and it came with a slice of Kraft cheese on it- ewww..cold,soggy pile of ewww

Great place for a get together with friends, family or both. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious I highly recommend to check out their pico de gio its awesome. Their chips are always fresh too. Never had any issues with services or food with this place.
